Local Sri Lankan food - great experience - This was the highlight of my Kandy stay. There were plenty of dishes (13 total). The food was all fresh and delicious. Dahl and Beetroot curries were my favourite! Even washed it down with a beer. We got all the recipes so we can practice back home. The family were also so welcoming and lovely. We were given tips about Sri Lanka that were very helpful. If you are in Kandy, this is a must do! 10/10 would recommend 👌🏾

The most amazing cooking class, you cannot miss this if you are in Kandy!! - We booked onto the Yummy Kandy Cooking class for the dinner time session and it was the most amazing thing we have done in Sri Lanka. Ranees picked us up from our hotel in his tuk tuk and took us to the local market to pick up some fresh fruit and veg for the cooking class. Once we got back to his family home we were met by his lovely wife Chandrika who had a nice fruit smoothie for us. Ranees and Chandrika were so welcoming, knowledge and friendly and the whole experience was Incredible. They taught us how to make 6 traditional Sri Lankan curries, they served us ice cold beers whilst we cooked and then sat down with us to eat, chatting away. We left their house feeling like we had made great friends and with a big smile on our face, their slogan come as guests, go as friends is so true! They are both so lovely, kind and generous people and I truly had the most amazing evening in their family home, and the food was the best we have had in Sri Lanka. If you are in Kandy you absolutely cannot miss this and I cannot recommend you enough to book it !!!!

I cannot recommend enough - I cannot recommend this cooking class enough. We had a fantastic time with amazing hosts - this is the best thing I have done in Sri Lanka so far. Ranees picked us up from our hotel in his tuk tuk and took us to a local market which was a great experience in itself. He then took us to his home where we had an excellent cooking class and we met his lovely family. We were offered a tasty homemade fruit juice on arrival and a beer during the class. The cooking class was great and very informative. We tried a wide variety of traditional Sri Lankan food and were guided through the process. Ranees and Chandrika were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food. Ranees and Chandrika are fantastic hosts and they will welcome you into their lovely home with open arms. We sat with them afterwards and had a great chat and left feeling like friends. They are truly nice and welcoming people. Ranees also took pictures throughout the class to give us something to remember, and sent us recipes as we left. Every detail was covered. If you’re thinking about whether to book this class, stop and just book it! I can assure you that you will not regret it.

The most memorable experience in Sri Lanka - My favorite thing I’ve done in Sri Lanka! An amazing experience in Kandy that you cannot miss. The most welcoming family that caters the cooking experience to your taste. First, we got to experience the market and select our fruit and vegetables. We also sampled some traditional fruits- red banana and mangosteen which were amazing! Next, we were welcomed into the most beautiful home and it was amazing to be treated as part of the family. The cooking class was exceptional and the spice levels can vary. I couldn’t believe the amount of dishes we made and each one was packed full of flavor. A wonderfully honest and welcoming family, this class cannot be missed. Their slogan is ‘come as guest, leave as friends’ and it is true.

Yummy Kandy Cooking Class - Come as guest, go as friends! This motto really does sum up the whole experience. From the moment you step into their beautiful home you are made feel welcome with a homemade juice of seasonal fruits. To begin you are taken to the local market where you select the fresh ingredients to be used in the cooking class. Every moment was extremely enjoyable and the food was very delicious. It was amazing to experience local Sri Lankan food with all sorts of vegetables, spices, and meats that will leave you very happy. Apart from the food they are a very welcoming family and we had a great conversation with them all about their lives and ours. We really felt at home with them. There’s even a little surprise at the end but we can’t ruin that! If you’re staying in Kandy then this is an experience you cannot miss. Thank you for having us in your home!!

Wonderful cooking experience with a lovely warm welcoming family - We had an absolutely wonderful evening cooking with Ranees and his family. We were made to feel incredibly welcome in their home. We started with a visit to the market to buy all the vegetables we needed, Ranees was keen to ask what we would like to try as well as explaining about vegetables we hadn't seen before. Afterwards we went to their home and were warmly welcomed before heading to the kitchen. Me and my mum thoroughly enjoyed cooking with Ranees and Chandrika in their traditional family kitchen. They were incredibly knowledgeable of Sri Lankan cookery and we learnt how to prepare all the vegetables, make coconut milk and cook so many dishes. The time in the kitchen flew by and at the end we sat down to an absolute feast of about a dozen dishes! Chatting with Ranees and his family, including his talented daughter, was very special. My mum and I have taken other cookery courses before and this one has been the best by far and this is because it felt like an evening spent with warm welcoming friends. As Ranees uses WhatsApp it was all really simple to organise too. I thoroughly recommend anyone to join a course with Yummy Kandy Cooking class. Thank you to you and your family Ranees.

Amazing Experience! - Wow what an incredible evening. This cooking class is an absolute must in Kandy! First we travelled to the local market where we watched Ranees interect with the locals and felt immersed in the experience. We were invited warmly into Ranees and Chandrika's home where we cooked an insane amount of great food! Every dish was amazing and it was fun to learn in a traditional home kitchen. Ranees and Chandrika are really special people, they are passionate and proud of their country. They really make you feel like you are old friends sharing stories while enjoying a fabulous meal. Hands down best meal in Sri Lanka and would recommend everyone to go!

Unforgettable experience! Best cooking class in Sri Lanka - We had such a great experience with Ranees and his family! I have rarely met such lovely people who would do anything to make you feel at home. They were very spontaneous and flexibel with their receipes. They could easily make it vegan and even left out some important spices because of my intolerances. But it was still the best sri lankan Rice & Curry I have had during my whole stay (3 weeks!). I really enjoyed visiting the market and seeing all different kinds of vegetables they use in Sri Lanka. Ranees even got me some special medicine for my stomache. I just know that my money is well invested here.
