Walking Tour with Darius - Darius has been such a wonderful guide! Not only has he provided informational material for the group, but shared his own experiences living in DR as well. He has many jokes & is very personable! Our bus driver Pina is also great & ensured we got to all destinations on time.

Don't do it if you are into history instead of shops - Sadly for us, this tour was pretty much a scam. Air Transat representative told us Santo Domingo isn't that safe and that a tour would be better. Not true. We should have rent a car and go around ourselves. She also forgot to tell that the tour wasn't in French. It was English and French. So the guide was translating aka repeating himself, all the time. The tour was awful. Darius, the guide, was nice but the tour content is bad. We wanted to learn about the city and the island. But we did the following (more or less): - 1h bus (normal) - 30 minutes in a chocolate stop framed as a toilet stop (maybe) - 1h30 bus, with some explanations about the city and island (ok) - Walk a little with some explanations (ok) - Go to some 4D cinema explaining the James Drake battle with a really bad sound - Walk a little with some explanations (ok) - Visit the cathedral with the details of each chapel force into us from au pre-recorded audioguide (uselessly detailed) - Go to a gift shop for a long time (no no) - Walk a little with some explanations (ok) - A little museum with the same useless audioguide (quite useless) - Eat basic food with some cheap dancing for tourist (no) - Visit a larimar shop with some pseudo explanations of how it's made (no no) - Back in the bus - Another stop at the chocolate for longer this time. Same pseudo explanation of how chocolate is made to try to make it look like something touristic - Back home So for a tour from 7 AM to 6 PM (we were supposed to be back at 7), we basically did maybe 1 hour of actual tour of the city. A really badly invested 310$ USD. We are currently asking for a refund and I guarantee this review will stay on until we get it and made sure the tour is fixed.
