Highlights
  • Konjic Bridge - The Old Stone Bridge, also known as a product of the Ottoman era, spanned the Neretva river for centuries since its construction in 1682. It stood until March 3rd, 1945, when it was demolished by the withdrawing German forces. This bridge was a distinguished specimen of classic Ottoman bridge architecture.
  • The historic urban site of Pocitelj - Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this distinctive town has been restored to its historical appearance following recent reconstruction efforts. Although first recorded in 1444, evidence suggests it was established in the late 14th century by the command of Bosnian King Tvrtko.
  • Blagaj tekija - Nestled at the foot of a cliff beside the Buna river’s spring, Blagaj Tekija is a Dervish monastery near Mostar, Bosnia, with a history spanning nearly six centuries. The monastery complex, with its striking and scenic architecture, offers an even more breathtaking experience in reality than in photographs.

The Tekija, or Tekke, originated at the peak of the Ottoman Empire. Over time, natural erosion and rockslides necessitated significant restoration and rebuilding of the structure. Presently, thanks to the efforts of a Turkish travel company, the monastery largely reflects its historical appearance.

  • Mostar Old Bridge - The ancient city of Mostar, which stretches across a steep valley along the Neretva River, was established in the 15th and 16th centuries as a border town of the Ottoman Empire and later flourished during the Austro-Hungarian period in the 19th and 20th centuries. Mostar is renowned for its traditional Turkish dwellings and the Old Bridge, Stari Most, from which the city derives its name. During the conflicts of the 1990s, much of the historic city and the Old Bridge, crafted by the eminent architect Sinan, were razed. The Old Bridge has been reconstructed, and numerous buildings in the Old Town have been repaired or rebuilt with the aid of an international scientific committee convened by UNESCO. The area around the Old Bridge, showcasing a blend of pre-Ottoman, eastern Ottoman, Mediterranean, and western European architectural styles, stands as a remarkable example of a multicultural urban habitat. The restored Old Bridge and the historical district of Mostar now serve as emblems of reconciliation, international collaboration, and the harmonious coexistence of various cultural, ethnic, and religious groups.

Outstanding Tour! - This was an exceptional tour, one of the best I've taken. We were in good hands with Ken who really seemed to care that we enjoyed ourselves and had a great experience. He took us to some amazing landmarks, providing us with the fascinating history and background, but also to some out of the way "local" spots where we could get a taste of Bosnian coffee, freshly caught trout, Bosnian sweets. It made for a truly unforgettable tour. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much. Highly recommend!!!

Highly recommend! - Kenan (“Ken”) was an excellent, funny, and engaging tour guide for our daylong tour. First off, I just want to say how impressive his English is, truly native level proficiency. It was a small group which allowed us to have his undivided attention, and also able to make some itinerary changes as needed. He was friendly and kind to everyone we met along the way— at one stop, even going so far as to help a tourist from another tour group find their phone! Driving with him from place to place was also a pleasure, with interesting my conversations ranging from the history of Sarajevo to our favorite Red Hot Chili Peppers songs. It was an absolute pleasure to get to know Ken and I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to show me around the country!

Not only was he great at explaining the history, but he answered all my questions and has a very positive outlook that creates a very positive experience. In addition, he was able to help me sort out my transport when I was having difficulty with conflicting information online. I can't recommend him and the company enough!

Fantastic Day-Trip Experience to Mostar and Surroundings from Sarajevo - Kenan - the real star of Adventure in Bosnia Tours. Extremely friendly, very engaging and really knowledgeable. All that you need from a guide, especially when you are on a first visit to the country. He made the 10-11 hour long day trip so worthwhile with his detailed knowledge of the area and the surroundings. We were so impressed by Kenan's professionalism and hospitality that we booked the company for our private transfer to Dubrovnik from Sarajevo. We thoroughly enjoyed the day-trip and would totally recommend Adventure in Bosnia Tours to anyone. Thank you very much Kenan. Diane and Abby
