A look at the siege from the inside - This was a fascinating tour of the sights associated with the siege of the city. It was given by a veteran of the conflict who was a policeman in Sarajevo at the time. I’m sorry I didn’t catch his name. He was quite articulate. It was a rather intense tour given the subject matter. I really felt that I had a much better understanding of what life was like during those trying times.

Rich history from a great tour guide with a rich understanding of the war. - Highly recommend this tour. It was a wealth of historically information from a legitimate source that lived through the war. (Neriman) You also get a good all round tour of the city with information at each point. The Tunnel of Hope is an extraordinary piece of local history. I just can’t say enough good things about this tour.

If you can only do one tour in Sarajevo then this is the one - This was quite probably the best tour that we have ever been on anywhere. The combination of Nermin's incredibly high level of knowledge about all kinds of topics, coupled with his personal experiences of the conflict was unparalleled. We left the tour considerably more informed than when we started, but more importantly we left with a greater understanding of the human side of the war and the lessons that the rest of the world should have learned from it. Given the potential of the subject matter to be on the 'heavy' side, we also found it an entertaining and at times humorous experience. I cannot recommend this tour any more highly.

Perpect - I was looking forward to this tour because I'm interested in history, and it was best choice. My guide, Nermin has a lot of knowledge and experience, so I was able to answer a lot of my questions through him. And he was very kind. If you want to know the history of Sarajevo, definitely choose this tour. How the Bosnian people acted bravely and made great efforts in a difficult situation of siege... I was able to learn a lot about Bosnia through this tour. I recommend it.

Informative and real - This is a must do while visiting Sarajevo. The city is so beautiful and the locals are welcoming and kind. Our guide was Safet, and he was absolutely amazing. It is hard to put into words how to describe this experience. I am the same age as Safet, and listening to him recount first hand experiences he had as a child made me think of my own, which was a polar opposite. It was almost unimaginable for me to put myself in his shoes. He was very knowledgeable and encouraged everyone to ask him questions. You could see how passionate he was about his city and his community. During the tour, if he was asked a question, you could see in his eyes him remembering his past. This tour and tunnel illustrates the both the good and evil of humankind. The events that happened during the 90’s were horrific, but seeing so many people come together and help one another is truly inspiring. Thank you Safet, for sharing your story with the world.

Great overview of Sarajevo and the siege - We participated in the "Times of Misfortune" tour and enjoyed the experience. This was mostly a driving tour; our driver and guide was in Sarajevo and fought during the siege. I would have liked to hear more about his personal experiences but understood that he didn't want to talk about them. Having the van was a nice way to reach locations far from the center of town. The main stops were the Yellow Fortress, above the east side of the city, and then the War Tunnel on the far west. We also drove past some of the Olympic sites. I wouldn't have minded more time out of the van at those sites (the web site wasn't very clear about what you'd see/do along the route), but our goal was to view the War Tunnel, and we had adequate time there to see and experience them.

Enlightening tour - My guide Nermin was extremely knowledgeable and authentic as someone who lived through the war. The Tunnel of Hope was moving. For me, the tour framed my memories of the siege in the news and books that I’ve read so that I understand it all in a completely new way.
