Excellent half day tour to Sintra - My husband and I had a terrific time on this tour. Felipe, our driver and guide was very informative and patient while we toured sites and the town of Sintra. We would highly recommend this excellent half day tour to Sintra.

Filipe was the best tour guide and made this tour even more amazing! - Filipe was an AMAZING tour guide!! He knew so much about the history of Portugal and knew Sintra like the back of his hand. The tour itself was out of this world! Pena Palace is definitely a must-see when in Lisbon. And the town of Sintra is like nothing any of us had ever seen. It was like being in the Enchanted Forest. Highly recommend this tour for anyone in the Lisbon area!

a scenic day in Sintra - We had a nice trip to Sintra with our guide, George, who was very kinda and knowledgeable. We recommend buying the separate tickets and transfer to Pena Palace ahead of time if interested. We did the 10 am entrance, which worked well. Honestly, you could just walk around the outside of Pena Palace and still see the views without as many crowds. The second castle we saw was less crowded and preferred. Beautiful scenery!

Excellent tour with great guide, Margarida - Our tour guide Margarita was awesome! Very informative and super friendly. Her English was great. She was also really flexible, giving us the option to lengthen the tour on the day. She also was an avid photographer and took great photos of our day together

Private half-day tour to Sintra - My daughter and I did the half-day private Sintra tour from Lisbon. Pretty sure Felipe was our guide/driver and, yes he looks exactly like Gerard Butler. He was lovely, very engaging and eager to share his wealth of knowledge about the sites we were about to visit. First up was the Moorish Castle. We practically had the place to ourselves. Next up was the Aladdin like Pena Palace. I bought entrance tickets and transportation tickets for the little bus that takes you up the big hill to gate beforehand. This place was more crowded so, if you don't want to wait on lines to buy entrance ticket(s), buy them online beforehand. You could spend alot of time here if you want to see the gardens (we didn't). After that, we went to the charming town of Sintra..Felipe dropped us off for a bit so we could walk around, sample the yummy pastries, and eat lunch. Last was a visit to Quinta da Regaleira - a Dracula like, slightly foreboding castle that is the home of the famous Initiation Well. This was my favorite. Walking down that circular well, getting darker as you descend. Fabulous. Do it. The day was overcast so that really added to the whole experience. We were picked up at our hotel around 9am and dropped back off around 3:30. We had a great day!

Pena Palace the highlight - Guide Mateus was a lovely guy with lots of local knowledge and helpful advice about getting around. Pena Palace was the highlight with lots of photo opportunities. Steep climb for about 10mins from the entrance. There is a shuttle bus charging 3 Euros p.p. You may need to queue for a time at the Palace but worth it. Interesting history trail and exhibits inside. We then dropped into Sintra town for a brief lunch and a walk around followed by a drive picking up a couple more historic buildings with stops outside. 5 Hours just enough for us and left time to explore more of Lisbon centre. Maybe lucky with the weather as blue skies. We really enjoyed it.

This is a private driver for the afternoon! - We booked this thinking it was a half day trip to see Pinta palace, the Moorish Castle, Sintra etc. And it is... Kinda. It's a private driver who takes you to all of those things, it does not include any tickets, and there is some good conversation it's not real a tour as so much as it's a driver. George did a great job with is overall,gave us lots of good information, but this was not what we expected.

Very Disappointed! - Viator should not be offering this private tour Sintra half day excursion and then have the tour operator Fantastic Ride encourage people to buy tickets to the Pena Palace. We were messaged the day before to advise that the 10:30 and 11:00 am slots for the inside Castle tour are still open and sell out fast and that we can buy tickets online. So we did. Big mistake. There is simply not enough time to tour inside the castle and do the rest of the Sintra tour in a half day from Lisbon. It took 2 hours to get through the inside of the caste which was overly crowded and packed us in like sardines. We ran out of time and never saw any other sights. Not worth the money to just get a ride to the castle and back to Lisbon. We cannot fault our driver Luis who was very passionate about his work and graciously offered to extend the tour at his own expense. Regrettably we only planned for half a day so we couldn’t take him up on his offer. We contacted Viator Customer Service to seek some compensation as we felt cheated out of an experience and it was not as advertised “hassle free”. We only received a very polite and well worded response from Viator….sorry to hear about our circumstances, etc. etc. and hope that we may be of service to you in your future plans.

Late Private tour to Sintra. - The palace in Sintra. The car to pick up us was delayed we had a timed admission to the Pena Palace we missed time by more than a 1/2 hr. We had to buy more tickets for another time slot. So unless your pickup is 2hrs ahead you may not make it. No, I don't think it was worth the money for driver.
