Additional Information

The two “must see” attractions in Stockholm are the Old Town (Gamla Stan) and the Vasa museum. Few tourists leave Stockholm without visiting these two attractions!

This tour, which starts at Gamla Stan metro station, combine these two major attractions! During the walk, we will tell you the story of Stockholm and Sweden. This includes the time when Sweden was one of the greatest powers in Europe and the Vasa ship was built.

We will start our walk at Riddarholmen with a beautiful view of the lake Mälaren and the City Hall. We will pass the House of Nobility, the Parliament building, the Royal Palace and Stortorget in Old Town.

Then we will take the ferry “Djurgårdsfärjan”, a 10 minute trip to Djurgården, where the Vasa Museum is situated. In the museum, we will tell you the astonishing story about how one of the world’s most modern warship capsized after only 1300 meters of sailing!

After the trip, you can continue with some of the other museums or activities on Djurgården!

  • This is a walking tour; about 1.5 miles (2.4 km). But we stop at different sites, take photos, etc. Good shoes are recommended, for walking on cobblestone streets

A successful morning - I was alone with the guide. This meant that he was able to answer all of my questions. I found the tour through the old town very interesting and the VASA is a must-see. What a gigantic ship.

Fabulous day with exceptional guide Bengt! - Bengt our guide was absolutely fantastic! He was so knowledgeable and friendly, he facilitated the group well and took care of all our needs. I loved his personal list of restaurants and things to do that he handed out after. It was a wonderful day and I highly recommend Bengt!

Full of love for Stockholm ( both Natalie and us) - Natalie gave me and my husband a great tour on a rainy day. It was a great opportunity to meet and talk with a Swedish person. I would recommend this tour to anyone who has interest in learning about Stockholm/Swedish history and culture. We came away with a lot of respect for the egalitarian Swedish culture. Thanks Natalie!

Guide was very... - Guide was very informative and took us even in the rain! Fun to do even in the rain with an umbrella!! Great to skip the lines at the Vasa as it was a rainy day and the lines were long. Meeting directions were a little difficult as it was at a metro station but we found her!!

Historical/ architectural Old Town tour - Loved our guides knowledge of the history of the palace, Nobel prize museum, and all the interesting details about the architectural style of the buildings. She was so personable and told us many stories about the history of Sweden and the royal family. Excellent way to see old town and have a delightful boat ride to the Vasa Museum. We were given a great list of other things to see in Stockholm and a list of food mart and restaurant suggestions. Highly recommend this your!

Vasamuseet is fantastic! - Bengt is a wonderful guide! Patient and thoughtful. It was a tour with just the two of us. So it was extra special. Gamla Stan is such an interesting place. Vasamuseet is awesome! Beautifully planned out to make the museum visit so worth it. And lunch at the restaurant was very good! We both enjoyed Vasamuseet tremendously. Thank you Bengt.

Time well spent - Natalie was our tour guide for our walking tour, and she was excellent. We learned a lot about the history of Stockholm , and especially about Vikings, which is a topic I knew very little about. The pace of our tour was just right, and we especially enjoyed the Vasa Museum. The ship was so impressive and very interesting to view firsthand. we would recommend this tour.

Great Tour Guide but we were overcharged for the tour - Please refund us the overcharged amount of $170 for the tour. We paid ($221 - 2 persons) when our friends (Paul West and his wife) pay only $50 for 2!!!
