Additional Information

Dougga represents the zenith of Roman influence in Tunisia, grandly overlooking the rolling terrain. Its aesthetic appeal perhaps stems from its locale - elevated and lush, its stone pillars project a majestic image against the backdrop of green landscapes. Notably, Dougga’s history predates Roman occupation, initially serving as a Numidian stronghold and thriving under the reign of Masinissa.

Bulla Regia, situated near the present-day city of Jendouba in Northwestern Tunisia, is a unique historical Roman city. The city is notable for its half-underground dwellings, most likely a design solution to combat extreme summer heat and winter chill. The opportunity to navigate through wholly intact villas is truly extraordinary; Bulla Regia is a distinct city from the Roman era with residential buildings featuring an underground level.

A place for those who love Roman history. - Both these sites are incredible and in fantastic shape. If you are interested in Roman architecture and lifestyle these are the place to go. Dougga also has a Berber tower. It is also interesting because the drive allows you to see modern day Tunisia as well. The foood at Thugga Hotel is basic but again you can buy a bottle of local wine.
