  • Sjursnesvegen 144 - We would like to invite you to visit our Saami camp with hundreds of reindeer surrounded by stunning scenery and the famous Lyngen Alp mountains. This is a family friendly activity enjoyed by all ages. Our camp is far away from the city lights and noise, so it is the perfect spot to look out for the northern lights while being surrounded by hundreds of reindeer. The natural wonders can sometimes be predicted but never guaranteed.

You will participate in the daily feeding session of the cutest herd of reindeer at our camp, and here you will have plenty of time to get up-close and personal with our charming creatures.
You will also be welcomed into our wooden lavvo (Saami hut) to warm up when needed and there you will be served a range of hot beverages to drink (coffee, tea, chocolate) and a hot meal for dinner.

Our expert guide will tell you about the fascinating reindeer and share some secrets about how to survive life in an extreme Arctic nature. By taking part in this evening excursion we hope you will be charmed by our reindeer - the true hero in the Arctic.

eye to eye with the reindeer - Everything was very well and reliably organized. The journey by bus took about 45 minutes. Feeding the reindeer was a very nice and special experience - there was a short instruction by the owners so as not to put the animals under stress. There was also the spontaneous option to upgrade to a reindeer sleigh ride (about 40 euros). We did that and squeezed ourselves into warm thermal suits ;-). Then we went for about 20 minutes in pairs through the starry night. Very nice atmosphere and you had the feeling you were traveling in another world. The only thing that could have topped the whole thing was seeing the northern lights.... Afterwards there was delicious reindeer stew by the roaring stove so you could warm up again. The explanations of the Sami culture were given by a young Sami dressed in traditional clothing. Very good English skills and entertaining narration, we learned a lot about this ethnic group living in the far north. I can highly recommend this tour, especially since you are certainly supporting this people through the price of the tour.

Unique and informative! - We had a great time feeding the very gentle reindeers and wandering amongst the herd before heading indoors for a light meal whilst listening to fascinating facts about the Sami people and life as a herder. A great way to spend an evening! Some tips: - the meal offered is a relatively simple stew along with bread, tea and biscuits, so don't book with the expectation of a feast. You can choose the traditional reindeer meat stew or a vegetarian stew when you check in for the tour. - we were offered the option to purchase a reindeer sled ride on the night as they had spare slots available (though we didn't take this up as we were happy to just spend time with reindeers) - there was a brief mention of the northern lights but this tour is really not designed for northern light watching and there are no specific activities prepared for it - this is merely an opportunity to see it given the fact that the location is generally away from light pollution.

Reindeer ❤️ - I recommend this to anyone. Great time feeding the reindeer. You get educated on the reindeer which is important, since they are a vulnerable species. The people are very nice and soup was yummy. I am a vegetarian and they made veggie soup. So yes book the trip. Much love Sandra ❤️

Pick another tour company - It is like they phoned in this tour. We were first put on reindeer sleds with no explanation of the history or culture of the sleds, then fed the reindeer which was fun, and then a Sami man gave us the worst rambling talk about nothing, accompanied by bad food.
