Highlights
  • Vourvourou Bay - Vourvourou in it’s own right can be given the title as Halkidiki’s premier water playground. The nine islands off the coast, including the impressive Diaporos, form a large sheltered natural pool of tranquil azure waters ideal for water sports.

  • Mount Athos The Holy Mountain - Our day cruise excursion takes you further south, to Mount Athos Peninsula known as Agion Oros, which means Holy Mountain in Greek. A World Heritage Site and self-governed state in the Hellenic Republic, Athos is home to 20 Eastern Orthodox monasteries under the direct jurisdiction of the patriarch of Constantinople.
However, a rule called “avaton” permits access only to adult men and young males accompanied by their fathers, so please note that we are not allowed to approach it within less than 500 m.
Possible stops to admire the following Holy Monasteries: Dochiariou, Xenofontos, Panteleimonos (Russian), and Xiropotamou.

  • Byzantine Tower of Ouranoupolis - The tower of Prosforion is the landmark of Ouranoupolis located next to its harbor. It’s the largest and best-preserved tower in Halkidiki built in the 14th century. The tower is also known as the “Tower of Loch”, both names are related to the tower’s history.

  • Drenia Island - As soon as the cultural tour around Mount Athos comes to an end, this is exactly where the summer fun begins! Relax on the deck, treat yourself with cool refreshments and tasty snacks and have the opportunity to make some new friends, as seagulls and dolphins will likely escort you until you reach Drenia, also known as Donkey islands.
These little islets offer the best spot to go swimming, snorkeling, and experience what fun in the sea is all about! Unwind and recharge on the white sand beach and in the crystal clear turquoise waters before sailing back to your starting point.

Our holidays highlight! - We booked a private cruise to the monasteries of Mt. Athos, starting in front of Ekies Resort where the boat and our lovely captain Xenia was waiting for us! She welcomed us with a big smile and treated us with a glass of local white wine! The boat was very smooth on the water and looked brand new! We were able to take our time at the locations we stopped at to take pictures, while Xenia was sharing her knowledge of the areas captivating history! We later sailed to Drenia, a complex of charming tiny islands were we had the chance to jump off the boat and snorkel. The water was crystal clear and was the perfect opportunity to take some underwater photos! We cruised along the coastline and later stopped at a small town on the island of Ammouliani were we had a delicious lunch (ask for fresh sea food!!) at a local restaurant that Xenia recommended! Cheers to the team for taking such good care of us through the whole trip! They are very genuine nice and make the extra effort! Will visit again for sure!
