2 Thumbs DOWN and NOT Recommended!!! - First, I want to say that I wanted to LOVE this tour, but I cannot. The entire experience was disappointing and scary to say the least. VIATAR/Qatar International Tour (QIT) was the worst experience I have ever had. The camels were extremely exhausted and therefore did not want to perform for the excursion. My husband was thrown from the camel and injured. I reached out to QIT to get the issue resolved and months later they have not made an effort to make me whole. I have spoken several times to Madhu Peiris, the Reservation Officer and he assured me that I would be taken care of. I sent him the following email explaining what happened: "The camel incident was not a fall. There was one tour guide attempting to manage both camels at one time. My husband proceeded to get on his camel first. Once his camel stood up then I proceeded to get on my camel. The camel that my husband was on began to walk away and the tour guide started walking with them. In the meantime, the camel that I was riding stood up without the tour guide which caused the guide to have to leave my husband and come to assist me with my camel. The moment that the guide walked away from the camel that my husband was riding, the camel began to jump and kick repeatedly until my husband fell off of the camel. The tour guide was not in the presence of the camel or my husband when this incident occurred. When the tour guide witnessed the incident of the kicking and jumping, he left me alone on my camel to attend to the camel that had just thrown my husband to the ground. Once my husband was thrown from his camel, the camel proceeded to run off from our presence and the tour guide left briefly attempting to retrieve the camel. He decided to leave the camel in the distance and proceeded back to my husband and me. When I was left alone on my camel the guide that took us on the dune bashing ride walked over to try and soothe my camel that had become slightly irritated. At this point, I was terrified knowing that my husband was just thrown from his camel, and I had an untrained staff member attempting to soothe the camel that I was sitting on. I was insisting on getting off of my camel only to hear the tour guide say "no, no, it's ok". The guide proceeded to walk me briefly on my camel until I insisted that he take me back and I no longer wanted to ride. The entire situation was out of control and the incident could have led to far worse injuries. At the given moment, my husband did say that he was ok with the exception of us asking the driver to stop at a pharmacy to get antibiotic cream for his two skinless knees. The next morning when he woke up his body was aching from the fall and the injuries to his knees were painful. First, I wanted to make sure you have the full details of the incident that occurred. Second, I hope that this incident never happens to another customer. There is absolutely no way one person can manage two camels at one time. Third, we are seeking a full refund of the excursion. It is very disappointing to me after all that occurred that you are only willing to refund 50% of a terrible experience. In order to be made whole, we are asking for a full refund." Even after receiving this information and insisting that we would be refunded we are still waiting. I do NOT recommend QIT or any of their services. QIT make it right!!! I have emails to document all of this with [email protected], [email protected] for reference. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!
