Highlights

Hustai National Park

Khustai Mountains Road - Your driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel in the morning.

Begin your journey heading west from UB. Hustai National Park is teeming with wildlife and historical landmarks. The Ungut monuments are renowned for their numerous man-like statues, sepulchers, and rectangular tombs dating back to the 6th-8th century AD.

However, the main attraction of the day is the Takhi, or Przewalski horses. Takhi are the only true wild horses, once nearly extinct in the wild. You might also spot other wildlife such as wolves, marmots, and deer. Enjoy a short hike through the mountains and capture the stunning landscape and wildlife with your camera. Visit the Hustai NP information center and souvenir shop.

Ugii Lake

Ugii Lake - After breakfast, drive to Ugii Lake. Here, you can enjoy a boat tour and horseback riding.

On the way, visit the Khusuu Tsaidam Museum, which houses artifacts from the nearby ruins of the Turkic State (6th-8th Centuries A.D).

Kharkhorin City

Erdene Zuu Monastery - Head south to the Orkhon Valley, a World Cultural Heritage Site.

Kharkhorin was the capital of the Great Mongolian Empire in the 13th century. Now, its ruins lie quietly, holding the secrets of Chinggis Khan beneath the name “black soil.” Visit the Kharkhorin Museum to see artifacts from the ruins.

Next, explore the magnificent Erdene Zuu, the oldest monastery in Mongolia and a masterpiece of Mongol architecture, located near the ruins.

Baga Gazriin Chuluu

Baga Gazriin Chuluu (Small Rock Formation) - Visit Baga Gazriin Chuluu and a 17th-century ruined Buddhist temple. The highest point is a granite stone mountain, 15 km long and 10 km wide, standing at 1768m above sea level. The area is home to over 20 types of medicinal herbs and rare animals like marmots, ibex, and mountain sheep. You can also explore Bolort Cave, an eye treatment spa, rock carvings, petroglyphs, burial mounds, and other sights. The ruins of Choir Monastery, established by the famous historical, religious, and scientific researcher “Zava” Damdin, are also here.
