On a short tour of Casablanca you will get an overview of the western-style metropolis on the Atlantic. You drive through wide boulevards and pretty boulevards. Imposing townhouses from the 1930s and 1940s are reminiscent of the French colonial era. From the window you can admire beautiful Art Deco buildings mixed in with modern high-rise buildings. You will then walk along the beach promenade with your driver-guide and take a coffee break with a view of the sea before continuing your journey.

Rabat - RABAT - COSMOPOLITAN CAPITAL BY THE SEA
You will reach Rabat in the evening. The cosmopolitan capital and fourth royal city of Morocco combines modern life with oriental tradition. The city’s landmark is the Hassan Tower, the remains of a gigantic mosque planned in the 12th century that was never completed. The old town of Rabat is smaller than the other royal cities, but very well maintained. In addition, the seat of government appears modern and open-minded. Modern infrastructure, cultural centers and boulevards with chic shops give the city a European flair.

In the evening you arrive in Fes. Fes is Morocco’s Islamic center and the country’s oldest royal city. The historical sights are correspondingly numerous, such as pretty Koran schools, magnificent palaces, historic department and trading houses and the mausoleum of Moulay Idris. Most of the cultural monuments are located in the oriental old town of Fes el-Bali, the medina, which can be easily explored on foot. A highlight is a visit to the tanners’ quarter. As in the Middle Ages, the tanners dehair, lime and dye the animal skins by hand.

After breakfast today we will go to the center of Islamic culture.
Today you will explore the royal city of Fez with your tour guide. First of all, from Borj Sud you get a fantastic view over the city’s sea of houses. You’ll stop at the wonderfully decorated gates of the royal palace and wander through the adjacent mellah. Through the Bab Boujeloud city gate you enter the medina with its colorful souks. Among other things, you will visit the Moulay Idriss tomb, see the Kairouine Mosque and the college from the 9th century. The tanner’s quarter is particularly impressive, where you can watch how craftsmen work on animal skins in an old tradition.

Ifrane - About 70 kilometers south of Fes, you reach the winter sports resort of Ifrane. When you walk through the small town you will feel like you are in a European mountain resort. It is not for nothing that the city with its gabled houses, flowerbeds and well-kept squares is also called “Morocco’s little Switzerland”. As you continue your journey, you will stop in the cedar forest and meet the Barbary macaques that live here

Midelt - On the N8 you drive south through the cedar forests around Ifrane and Azrou to the N13. The road takes you into the mountains of the Atlas Mountains to Midelt.
Between Azrou and Midelt you cross the climatic divide of the Atlas Mountains. This means that not only the weather changes, but also the landscape. On the northern side of the Middle Atlas, the route takes you through beautiful green mountains with dense cedar forests and clear mountain lakes. Beyond the Col Ouzad pass at an altitude of 2,178 meters, the foothills of the High Atlas spread out. The transition to the plateaus is marked by bare, rugged mountains dotted with orchards. On the way, the landscape offers wide views over the mountains and your tour guide talks about the country and its people.

Errachidia - drive through

You follow the picturesque Ziz Valley along a chain of oases. Surrounded by barren, yellow-red rocks, the river winds through the High Atlas. Merzouga - CAMEL RIDE TO THE SUNSET
On the back of a dromedary you follow the camel guide over high sand dunes. While riding, you can feel the slow swaying of the desert animals below you and see the Erg Chebbi from an unusual height. The approaching twilight bathes the desert in magical light. From a dune you watch the fascinating play of colors as the sun slowly sinks into the sea of sand.

Back in the vehicle you follow the Todra River. About 15 kilometers you reach the narrowest and most spectacular passage of the Todra Gorge. Here the river has cut itself deep into the rocks of the High Atlas. You walk into the narrow area and cross the river on a concrete ford. On both sides of the gorge, which is only a few meters wide, the red-brown rocks rise almost vertically up to 300 meters.

You then follow a smaller road via Telouèt through the rugged, here barren mountains. In the valley, the Ounila River is accompanied by a green band of vegetable gardens and oasis fields that contrast with the red-brown rocks of the canyon. Experience Morocco with Ibrahim - We booked a 12-day tour with tour guide Ibrahim. Ibrahim brought us closer to his country with his foresight, local knowledge and good driving skills. We felt comfortable with him, had a lot of fun and his local knowledge and contacts gave us many wonderful experiences in his wonderful country. Thanks to Ibrahim, Morocco completely captivated us.
