Highlights

From the Airport to the City Hotel

Nairobi - Upon your arrival, our team will greet you and transport you from the airport to your city hotel (Boma Nairobi or a similar establishment). After your long flight, we’ll brief you on the upcoming events and address any questions you may have about your safari, which begins the following day.

The accommodations are on a bed-and-breakfast basis, ideal for those arriving in Nairobi in the evening. If you arrive earlier, you can either relax at the hotel or explore various city activities such as the Nairobi city tour, giraffe center, elephant orphanage, or a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum before returning to your hotel in the late evening.

Nairobi - Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru National Park - Our company representative will pick you up from your Nairobi accommodation for a scenic drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. You’ll stop at the stunning Great Rift Valley viewpoint to stretch your legs and take photos of the contrasting landscapes, including Mount Longonot. You’ll arrive at the park in time for lunch, check into your lodge, and later head out for an afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge at sunset.

Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya’s premier national parks, featuring rocky escarpments, yellow-barked acacia forests, and a waterfall. It is home to flamingos, black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, buffaloes, hippos, and the endangered Rothschild’s giraffes. The forested area below the cliff is a popular spot for spotting lions and leopards. Afterward, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Lake Nakuru National Park - Masai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara National Reserve - After breakfast, you’ll drive through the Rift Valley floor to the Masai Mara National Reserve, arriving at the camp in time for lunch. Afterward, you’ll embark on your first game drive in this rich wildlife sanctuary, known as the ‘8th Wonder of the World,’ in search of the Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, and rhinos. You’ll return to the camp at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.

The Masai Mara National Reserve is one of our favorite places to observe wildlife in Kenya. The reserve is teeming with big cats (lions, leopards, and cheetahs) and elephants. You are also likely to see giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and impalas. Bring your binoculars, as over 500 bird species have been recorded in the reserve. The landscape is also stunning, with beautiful savannahs and acacia trees.

Masai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara National Reserve - Spend a full day game viewing across the rich, tree-studded grasslands and rolling hills of the famous savannah. The Mara is renowned for its great herds of plains game animals, including leopards, cheetahs, lions, and other herbivores. You’ll have a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara savannah.

Today’s lunch will be picnic boxes in the savannah under a flat-top acacia tree while watching the animals graze. Continue game viewing on your way back to the camp, arriving late in the afternoon after thoroughly exploring this vast 1,500 sq km grassland savannah.

You have the option to book a balloon ride today, which takes off early in the morning. After landing, the crew will help you out of the basket and escort you to a lovely setting for a bush breakfast, a once-in-a-lifetime experience worth the price. Later, join your driver-guide at a designated location and continue your full-day game drive.

Masai Mara - Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, prepare for a long drive as you carry picnic lunch boxes and head towards the Kenya-Tanzania border (Isebania border post). Be ready to pay for your visa, which costs $50-$100 depending on your nationality (visa cards are NOT accepted). After clearing the border immigration process, you’ll transfer vehicles and join your Tanzanian driver/guide, who will welcome you and proceed to the expansive Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, meaning ‘endless plains.’ You’ll arrive at the camp late in the afternoon with a game drive en route.

You’ll have your first Serengeti game drive on the way to your camp, keeping an eye out for the millions of animals that call this place home. Tonight, you’ll experience a true African safari. The lodge is an unfenced site within the national park, right in the heart of the animal action. Your driver/guide and the camp manager will give you a full safety briefing upon arrival.

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park - Wake up to another glorious day in the Serengeti. Start with an early morning game drive to see the animals when they’re most active. Then, return to the lodge for a relaxed breakfast and lunch.

Spend the hottest part of the day relaxing at the camp, reading your favorite book, writing in your journal about the safari, or just listening to your favorite music while observing the birds. In the afternoon, head out again for another drive through the park. Return to the lodge for dinner and another night under the Serengeti stars.

Note: There’s also an option for an early hot air balloon ride here. Please ask the tour manager before booking this trip if you’re interested.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater - Enjoy a final game drive through the Serengeti as you exit the park this morning. Drive through the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation area en route to Karatu. This afternoon, you’ll descend to the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a game drive. If all goes well, you’ll see some or maybe even all of the Big Five animals that reside here.

The animals here are less wary of humans and vehicles, making it easier to observe them up close. Enjoy the spectacular views from the rim of the crater as you make your way to the bottom, where animals roam the lakes, rivers, woodlands, and hills. Look out for wildebeests, lions, zebras, cheetahs, buffaloes, gazelles, and endangered black rhinos.

Later, drive out of the crater to your lodge located on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, your base for the next night.

Ngorongoro Via Lake Eyasi - Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park - After an early morning breakfast, head to Lake Eyasi, a large seasonal soda lake. Lake Eyasi has been home to the Hadzabe people for over 10,000 years and is one of the few places in Africa where traditional tribal life continues without modern influence.

Today’s visit to the Hadzabe lands offers incredible insight into this ancient culture and a chance to learn about their way of life. You’ll have the opportunity to meet community members and join in daily activities like hunting, gathering, and traditional dances, as well as learn about their unique ‘click’ language, thought to be one of the oldest languages still in use today. Proceed to your lodge in Tarangire National Park, arriving in time for lunch. After lunch, embark on your first game drive exploring this beautiful park, believed to have the second-highest concentration of wildlife in Tanzania after the Serengeti. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Tarangire National Park - Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park - Set off early this morning, around 7:30 a.m., heading for the Kenya-Tanzania border (Namanga border post) and passing through Arusha, leaving Tarangire National Park behind. Upon arrival at the border, head to the immigration office, a one-stop border post. After clearance, meet your Kenyan driver/guide who will drive you to Amboseli National Park (approximately 2 hours from the border), arriving in time for lunch.

Embark on your first-afternoon game drive at 4:00 p.m., exploring the acacia woodland, freshwater swamps, scrub brush, and open plains in search of wildlife. Part of the park consists of a dried-up lake bed, where mirages rise from the shimmering heat. Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park - After breakfast, leave the camp with your packed lunch to be enjoyed in the wild. Spend the whole day exploring the marshlands and swamps of Amboseli, which are fed by subterranean water channels. Water and pasture are abundant year-round, attracting elephants and various other herbivores. Return to the lodge late in the afternoon after a long exploration of this 392 sq km park.

You also have the option of starting the day with an early morning game drive to see the animals when they’re most active. Then, return to the lodge for a relaxed breakfast and lunch. Spend the hottest part of the day relaxing in camp, reading your favorite book, writing about the safari, or just listening to your favorite music while observing the birds. At 4:00 p.m., head out again for another drive through the park. Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.

Amboseli National Park - Nairobi

Nairobi - After a leisurely breakfast, depart from Amboseli to Nairobi, stopping at the famous Carnivore Restaurant for an (optional) celebratory lunch. Afterward, transfer to your city hotel or the airport for your outbound flight back home.

It’s unfortunate that it has to end, but this is where your safari concludes. We’re confident you’ll return home with many exciting and happy memories, and we hope you’ll join us again on safari in the future.
