Highlights

First Day 8am- 05am

Bayon Temple - Morning
08:00 Depart for a tour of Angkor Thom, which includes the Bayon Temple, Terrace of Elephants, and Terrace of the Leper King. Angkor Thom, established by Jayavarman VII in the 12th century, was one of the largest Khmer cities and served as the capital until the 17th century. We enter through the grand south gate, featuring four faces on its tower, each facing a cardinal direction, with elephants supporting the main gate. This is preceded by an impressive Avenue of Gods and Ashuras (Giants) lining the bridge over the moat.

The Bayon, or state temple of Jayavarman VII, is one of the most mysterious and powerful religious structures in the world. It is a unique collection of “face towers” that form a stone mountain of ascending peaks. Originally, there were 49 towers, of which 37 still stand today. Most towers have four faces, one on each cardinal point, with the central tower having many more.

Terrace of the Elephants - Located at the heart of Angkor Thom, the Terrace of Elephants overlooks the Royal Square. It marks the entrance to the Royal Palace and was the focal point for royal receptions. The carvings of elephants along its wall give it its modern name.

Terrace of the Leper King - This massive terrace is named after a 15th-century sculpture found on top of it. Likely dating back to the reign of Jayavarman VII, it has been restored to allow visitors to explore its internal layers, from the earliest to the most recent additions.

Ta Prohm - Ta Prohm Temple (featured in Tomb Raider movies) was built in the 12th century by Jayavarman VII as a royal monastery dedicated to his mother. This temple was left in its natural state to show how most of Angkor looked upon its rediscovery in the 18th century. Shrouded in jungle, Ta Prohm exudes a romantic aura with gigantic roots and branches intertwined with the stone walls, forming a natural roof over the man-made structures.

Angkor Wat - Afternoon
14:30 Depart for a tour of Angkor Wat and sunset at Bakheng Hill. Built between the 9th and 14th centuries, the city of Angkor is one of the grandest monuments ever constructed. Covering approximately 164 square miles with over 200 temples, the most famous is Angkor Wat, the largest religious building in the world, with a volume of stone equal to that of the Cheops pyramid in Egypt. Conceived by Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat took an estimated 30 years to build. Unlike most other Khmer temples, it faces west, likely because it was dedicated to Vishnu, who is sometimes associated with the west.

Phnom Bakheng - Bakheng Mountain is the best place to see a beautiful sunset. In the late 9th century, it was the state temple of Angkor’s first capital. Begin the ascent from the east side at the foot of the hill near the road. The view from the top is magnificent, especially of Angkor Wat to the southeast, making it a popular spot for tourists.

Please Note: Due to the limited number of tourists allowed at the peak of Phnom Bakheng, if it is busy, we will take you up a bit earlier so you can wait for the sunset. Note: Waiting and watching the sunset will take 1.45 to 2 hours, but you can still enjoy the view from the top of the mountain and temple.

Second Day 05AM-03 PM

Angkor Wat - 5:00 Depart for a beautiful sunrise tour at Angkor Wat. In the morning, continue your temple visit to Banteay Srei Temple. You might need a breakfast box from your hotel.

Banteay Srei - Banteay Srei Temple is the most exquisite in the complex. Known as the “Citadel of the Woman” or “Citadel of Beauty,” it is noted for its size and the delicacy of its decoration. Unlike the major sites at Angkor, Banteay Srei was not a royal temple but was built by Brahmin priests and is often described as the “Jewel of Khmer Art.”

Banteay Srei is a temple of great beauty, surprising visitors with its miniature scale and the near-total decoration of its surfaces. For its protection, the innermost spaces of the temple are closed to the public.

Eastern Mebon - Constructed in 952 AD by King Rajendravarman II, the East Mebon Temple was dedicated to his parents and the Hindu Trinity Gods. The name “Mebon” means ‘Magic Merits’ in Cambodian. Located on the island of Yasotatska (Eastern Baray or reservoir), people originally came to worship at this temple by boat.

Ta Som - Built by King Jayavarman VII (1181-1220) to honor his older sister, Ta Som is smaller than other temples dedicated to more important figures. It is one of three temples constructed by Jayavarman VII, located across the lake Jayatataka.

Neak Pean - ‘Neak Pean’ means ‘Nagas Intertwining Tails’ in Khmer, named for the two Nagas (one male and one female) whose bodies encircle the temple base with their tails intertwined, symbolizing their happiness.

Preah Khan - Built in the 12th century, Preah Khan was one of Jayavarman VII’s largest projects, dedicated to his father. It was more than a temple, serving as a Buddhist university and a considerable city with over 1,000 teachers. You can cross Preah Khan from east to west or vice versa, admiring the magnificent stone sculptures of giant garudas holding the tails of nagas. Restoration is currently being undertaken by the World Monuments Fund, a US-based foundation.

Chong Kneas Floating Village - Kampong Phluk is located on the Tonle Sap, the largest lake in Southeast Asia and a UNESCO Biosphere site. It is crucial to Cambodians who live on it and earn their living from fishing.

For the floating village, you need to buy a boat ticket for $25 per person. If you prefer not to visit the floating village, you can choose a city tour, killing field, or silk farm instead.

The tour guide, Sophia, was excellent: knowledgeable, professional and always ready to answer questions. SUV wash comfortable and air conditioned. Cold water and cold towels were handed out after temple visits. The sites were unbelievable and the tour well planned. Highly recommended.

Wonderful 2days private tour of Angkor Complex. - Wonderful private day tour of the Angkor Temple Complex We booked this tour in England through Viator and had a great day out exploring the area. We were greeted in our hotel lobby in the morning by our friendly tour guide Sophia and our driver. Both were very professional, arriving promptly for the agreed pick up time. The car was clean and tidy and had good air conditioning, nice for us in the hot Feb weather. Sophia was a fantastic guide for our 2days out showing us throughout the many sights such as Angkor Wat, Bayon, Angkor Thom, Ta Phrom and Prasat Kravan. His knowledge of the area was excellent explaining the details and history and answering any questions we had. He was also nice giving us a helping hand when climbing up the many steep steps. He gave us time to rest when we needed, as we not as young and fit as some of the other tourists. Apart from tour guiding it was also nice to chat with Sopia about his life in Cambodia. He was nice also offering to take some photos of us with our iPhone. We were taken for our lunch to Bamboo restaurant. The food there was quite tasty and plentiful and a welcome rest during the hot day. We were also given cold water to drink during the day which was refreshing. We opted not to stay and wait for the sunset as we were hot and tired by the afternoon. We really enjoyed our day tour and would recommend it to others.

Best tour for couple. - This trip was so well organised and made extra special by Hidden Angkor Tour. Our tour guide Veasna was extremely polite and gave us the perfect amount of information. He is a wealth of knowledge and shares with us the most valuable information. Our driver Mr Sophan was an extremely competent driver who made us feel safe, he was polite and the added touch of water and a cold flannel was very much appreciated. I would definitely request Veasna and Sophan again - thank you so much.

best tour experience. - Our tour guide from Hidden Angkor Tour made this trip into a lifelong memory. Our guide Sophea and driver Sophan were attentive to our every need. Sophea's knowledge of the Angkor Wat complex was exceptional, I really needed a battery operated tape recorder to play back all the info provided. Without the excellence of this guide we would not of learned anything by just looking at these fantastic temples. If you can request a guide, I would highly recommend this person. His English was very understandable.

Hidden Angkor Tours - A Great Way to see the Temples around Siem Reap - We were met at the airport by our guide Mr. Veasna and driver Mr. Chamrouen. These guys had waited for well over an hour for us to exit the airport and to take us to our hotel: FCC Angkor. Due to our late arrival Veasna suggested we delay our departure the next morning by an hour to enable us to rest. This was indicative of his flexibility in catering to our specific needs throughout our stay. The next morning we set off on a tour of Angkor Wat, where Veasna was very skilful in avoiding the areas crowded with tourists and also to take us to the spots where we could get the 'money shots' of this fabulous temple. At this point I should mention that I am sight impaired and Veasna took great care to insure that I was able to manage all of the steps and other potential pit-falls without incident. He did this throughout our stay in Siem Reap and this was very much appreciated. He made it easy to get to places that would have otherwise been difficult for me to experience over the three days that we were in Siem Reap We found Veasna knowledgeable, personable and extremely fluent in his English skills. The car we were driven around in was clean and very comfortable; there was always an ample supply of iced water and refresher towels. We would highly recommend Hidden Angkor Tours for anyone wanting to experience Siem Reap and its surrounds.

Amazing trip with Hidden Angkor Tour. - The private trip of Angkor Wat with Hidden Angkor Tour and tour guide Sophea was the highlight of our weekend trip to Siem Reap. Sophea picked us up early morning at our hotel and showed us an jaw-dropping selection of the most - and lesser - know temples in Angkor. Sophea is extremely welcoming, knowledgeable and pleasant to be around. He readily answers any question about Cambodia's ancient and more recent history and the whole day was an immense pleasure. I cannot recommend Sophea enough.
