Xi’an

Shaolin Monastery (Shaolin Temple) - A vehicle will collect you from the lobby of your hotel in Xi’an and transport you to the Xi’an Railway Station. Board the morning train bound for Zhengzhou, which has an approximate journey time of 2 hours.

Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by your amiable local guide. You’ll then be driven straight to the Shaolin Temple, about a 1.5-hour trip. During the drive, your guide will share the historical background of the Shaolin Temple and you’ll have the opportunity to take in the scenic rural landscapes.

Shaolin Monastery (Shaolin Temple) - After reaching the Shaolin Temple, you’ll dine at a nearby eatery for a tasty midday meal. The Shaolin Temple is renowned for its association with Chinese Kungfu. Here, you’ll get to see authentic Kung Fu demonstrations by the Shaolin monks. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the temple was originally established in 495 A.D. It was later expanded by Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-557) to house the Indian monk Batuo. Known as the birthplace of Chan Buddhism and Kungfu, the temple holds a significant place in Chinese culture. With your guide’s expertise, you’ll delve into the temple’s history and the stories of its culture, people, and spirit.

Pagoda Forest at Shaolin Temple - You will then proceed to the Pagoda Forest, a collection of grave pagodas for distinguished monks and abbots from the temple. With over 240 tomb pagodas from the Tang, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties (618-1911), it stands as China’s largest pagoda forest.

Subsequently, you will be escorted to your hotel in Luoyang.

Luoyang-Xi’an(L)

Longmen Grottoes - Your guide will collect you at the agreed time and take you directly to the Longmen Grottoes.

The Longmen Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, feature over 2,300 caves and niches hewn into the limestone cliffs along a stretch of 1km. They represent the pinnacle of Chinese art from the late Northern Wei and Tang Dynasties (316-907). Alongside your guide, you will explore the Fengxian Temple and the Wanfo Cave.

Longmen Grottoes - After savoring lunch at a local restaurant, your guide will accompany you to the Luoyang Railway Station for your return train to Xi’an, which takes approximately 2 hours. Alternatively, you can choose to conclude your tour in Luoyang or Zhengzhou (If you opt to end your tour in Zhengzhou, you will take the train to Luoyang on the first day, and the second day will end in Zhengzhou).

Upon arrival, a driver will meet you at the Xi’an Railway Station and take you back to your hotel in Xi’an City.

Note: You will travel by train independently, and your English-speaking local guide will meet you in Zhengzhou/Luoyang.
