Highlights

Beatles & Yoga in Rishikesh

The Beatles Ashram - 7AM– Drive down 240 KM from Delhi to Rishikesh, known as the gateway to the Himalayas. The River Ganga flows through this town, famous for its numerous Ashrams due to its serene setting.
Following the Beatles
The Beatles Ashram is Rishikesh’s most intriguing attraction, where the Beatles learned transcendental meditation from Maharshi Mahesh Yogi in the 1960s. The Ashram features huts constructed from the pebbles of the river Ganges. Other notable spots include the Yoga Hall and the spiritual discourse studio.

Ram Jhula - Standing on this iron suspension bridge over the river Ganges is a remarkable experience. It connects Swarg Ashram on the western bank of the River Ganga to the Sivananda Ashram on the eastern bank.

Parmarth Niketan Ashram - Participate in a group Yoga session at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, the largest ashram in Rishikesh, situated on the banks of the river Ganga.
The evening prayer on the banks of the River Ganga is an unforgettable experience, filled with devotional songs, prayers, rituals, and a palpable sense of divinity. The aarti, an ornate oil lamp with dozens of flames burning in pure ghee, is offered to the River Goddess.

Holy Himalayan town of Haridwar

Mansa Devi Temple - 9 AM– Drive to the sacred city of Haridwar. Haridwar is an ancient city and a significant Hindu pilgrimage site in North India’s Uttarakhand state, where the River Ganges leaves the Himalayan foothills.
Mansa Devi Temple
The temple, located atop the Bilwa Parvat on the Sivalik Hills, can be reached either by trekking or by rope-way. The temple, considered very holy, is believed to have originated from the mind of the great sage Kashyap.

Har ki Pauri - Haridwar is one of India’s oldest pilgrimage centers, revered since ancient times. ‘Hari’ means Lord/God and ‘Dwar’ means Gateway. Har Ki Pauri is particularly famous for the footprints of Lord Vishnu. King Vikramaditya built this sacred ghat in memory of his brother Bhatrihari, who is believed to have come to Haridwar to meditate.

Get a glimpse of Hindu culture rarely seen - Tremendous experience, thanks largely to Balwinder and 5senses. The guide cleared the way through crowds and I always felt safe. Few tourists visit these towns (in august) but I believe that will change. The hilltop temple in Haridwar has dirty floors and requires visitors to be barefoot but the experience is worth it. Balwinder was able to get tickets to bypass the queue for the tram. I enjoyed being in nature for the Beatles ashram, despite a brief rainstorm. The evening aarti and experience of witnessing the pilgrims performing their traditions in the Ganga impacted me a great deal. The food and staff at the hotel were terrific, especially the pandit and yoga instructor. Wear orange to fit in if you’d like to.

Yoga with Beatles! - This was a fantastic 2 days in the Himalayas. We visited 2 towns, Hardwar and Rishikesh and both were very beautiful in their own ways. The highlight was ofcourse visiting the ashram where Beatles learnt Yoga. We also enjoyed the incredible Himalayan scenery and rivers. The yoga session in Rishikesh in an Ashram will be in memory for a long time to come! IF you have 2 days in Delhi, this is the best thing to do to escape from the chaos and noise of Delhi!
