Highlights

CUSCO

Inca Trail - At 5:00 AM, we will collect you from your accommodation in Cusco and drive you to the Ollantaytambo train station, which will take around an hour and a half. On this journey, you’ll witness the Sacred Valley of the Incas, agricultural landscapes, and impressive snow-capped peaks. Upon reaching Ollantaytambo, we’ll board a train to Km 104, which is about an hour’s ride. The trek begins at Km 104 (2,200 m / 7,217 ft), where we’ll cross a bridge over the Urubamba or Willkamayuc River, meaning ‘Sacred River’ in Quechua, a vital waterway for the Incas. At the checkpoint, you must present your identification, such as a Passport, Alien Registration Card, or National Identity Document. A short 15-minute hike will bring us to the Chachabamba archaeological site and the concealed Choquesuysuy ruins within the semi-tropical forest. Following the visit, we’ll ascend staircases for about three hours until we reach Wiñaywayna (2,650 m / 8,694 ft), an area that showcases Incan agricultural practices with numerous circular terraces used for crop cultivation. Wiñaywayna, named after a prevalent orchid in the region meaning ‘Forever Young’ in Spanish, features over 20 structures, including the Temple of the Rainbow or Fertility Temple. After exploring for about an hour and enjoying a packed lunch, we’ll proceed to the Wiñaywayna checkpoint.

The second leg of our journey involves a two-hour walk across an Andean plateau, stone steps, and tambos (‘rest stops’) until we reach the Inti Punku - Sun Gate (2,720 m / 8,923 ft), which served as an entrance checkpoint to Machu Picchu during Incan times. From this vantage point, we’ll have a stunning view of Machu Picchu and the valley below. We’ll then descend for roughly 30 minutes to the world-renowned Machu Picchu (2,490 m / 8,169 ft) and take a short 15-minute bus ride to our ‘Puente Ruinas’ campsite (2,160 m / 7,086 ft) beside the Urubamba River, where we’ll spend the night. In the evening, we’ll enjoy tea time with hot beverages and snacks, followed by a sumptuous dinner prepared by our skilled chef.

Overnight at ‘Puente Ruinas’ campsite.

PUENTE RUINAS

Machu Picchu - An early rise and a splendid breakfast by our chef will kick off the day.

We’ll embark on a brief 30-minute trek to reach the Machu Picchu Citadel by 06:00 am to witness the spectacular sunrise. A 2.5-hour guided tour will introduce us to Machu Picchu’s key sites, including the Royal Mausoleum, the Temple of the 3 Windows, the Main Temple, the Sacred Plaza, and the renowned Intihuatana, where the Incas are said to have ‘tied the sun’ during the winter solstice in June. The tour also includes various steps, squares, fountains, and more. You’ll then have some leisure time to explore Machu Picchu independently.

When appropriate, we’ll take the bus from Machu Picchu back to ‘Aguas Calientes’ to catch the train to Cusco. We anticipate arriving back in Cusco at 08:00 PM, concluding the tour with a transfer back to your hotels.

Amazing days on the Inca trail - We had the most amazing two days at Machu Picchu. First day was a hike with amazing views that was a bit demanding for the eldest in our group but totally, I mean really totally worth it. The hike was not technical or long (only 12 km) but the ascent during the first 6 km is physically challenging if you have a sedentary lifestyle. We had the most lovely guide who was a bit shy in the beginning but as we all got to know each other he became more personal and at the end of the tour it felt like we were friends already. Belisario was super knowledgeable and could answer literally all of our questions, not only about the Incas and their history, but also about geology, biology, Peruvian history and culture and so much more! He was patient with our group and we had a lot of good laughs. The logistic part worked extremely smoothly and it was easy to enjoy the excursion without having to worry about permits, transportation, luggage and we had no problem whatsoever. Would definitely recommend!!

BEST PEOPLE AND COMPANY TO WORK WITH - One of the best and very caring company I have ever come across. Starting with the booking and effective communication to the pick up on the tour day was just incredible. I felt very safe and it turned out to be even more pleasant. They took care of me and my husband's needs as we needed more personalized attention due to our sickness of altitude. It was not part of the tour, they did that for us happily. They even helped me carry my camera etc. as it was bit heavy on the hike. The tour guide assigned to me "Ramiro" even took great photos of us all along the way. He let us have our own time and guided me thru out the hike. We were truly blessed to have them. I recommend this company to anyone who is looking to have a great worry and hassle free experience. They accommodated our date change for our tour which was very last minute and also were so kind to make us feel comfortable. I used them for all my tours in Peru- Machu Picchu 2 day Inca Trail, Sacred Valley and Rainbow Mountain.

Sublime!! - The tour was spectacular! Everything was impeccable from the pre-trip to the organization and communication, they came to our hotel to give us all the recommendations. Our guide was Domingo, an excellent guide and person, respectful, professional, patient and passionate about his work. Without a doubt, doing the route in a personalized way made everything wonderful about the route super enjoyable. We also learned during the walk what was the reality in which the Incas lived. If you are thinking of visiting Machu Pichu, do not doubt that this is an excellent option!

Highly recommended tour company - We just returned from the 2 days Inca trail hike and it was one of the most amazing experiences of our life. Our trek was led by Carlos who is a native qechuan with extensive knowledge about the incas. He explains things very well and was able to answer virtually any question you may have about the Incans and the inca trail. I highly recommend you to request him as a guide for inca trail to Machu Picchu. We highly recommend this company, we guarantee it will be one of the best experiences of your life.
