Aral Sea-Nukus
Ustyurt Platosi - Visit Kurgancha Kala from the 13th century, a hidden caravanserai among the hills of the Ustyurt Plateau. Kubla Ustyurt village is 50 km away. This remote village is home to locals who keep camels, and you can taste the fresh and organic camel sour milk, known as SHUBAT. Camel milk boosts the immune system and normalizes the gastrointestinal and nervous systems. The village also has a Gas Compressor Station with a small airplane runway.
Lake Sudochie. Stop at the ancient Lighthouse Hill, where fires were once lit to guide ships and trading caravans. Visit the abandoned settlement of Russian and Polish people repressed during Stalin’s regime. The cemetery, hospital ruins, cane houses, and old fish factory tell the area’s history. Today, there’s a modern bird-watching point to observe around 250 bird species in this shrinking lake.
Kungrad - Have lunch at a local cafe in the Kungrad district. Visit the architectural complex of Mizdakhan from the 14th century, the Halifa Erejep mausoleum (12th century), Nazlumhansuluw (12th-14th centuries), Shamun Nabi (19th century), and the ruins of Gaur Kala fortress (6th century BC-9th century AD).
