After entrusting your bags to the porters, you will begin the ascent towards the refuge following the canals that irrigate the terraced crops. After the lunch break at Sidi Chamarouch’s small village, the mountain becomes more arid and only a few bleating of goats and sheep guarded by young shepherds accompany your walk. Embark on the exciting challenge of scaling North Africa’s tallest mountain in just 2 or 3 days. Our journey begins and concludes in the bustling Moroccan city of Marrakech, with included transport to and from Imlil. Trek alongside a local, English-speaking guide, a native cook and mules to transport our gear. While the trek may be demanding, no climbing is required and anyone physically fit can reach the summit. Do bring your camera to capture the stunning views from the peak. Note that Mount Toubkal, standing at 4167m, is North Africa’s tallest peak and a trekking peak with no climbing involved. Two days require walking in crampons with an ice axe for safety (from November to April). The itinerary is planned specifically for enthusiastic walkers, as the trek up is non-technical, but includes some simple scrambling and snow-covered gradients.
