Highlights

Reykjanes Peninsula - Volcano Hike & Blue Lagoon

Seltún Geothermal Area - You don’t have to travel far from Reykjavik to see vibrant geothermal sites, Seltún is one of those sites. Visiting Seltùn, like all geothermal locations in Iceland, is like entering into another universe. Seltún has both bubbling mud pools and boiling hot springs.

Kleifarvatn Lake - Kleifarvatn is the largest lake on the Reykjanes Peninsula. This area is well-known for its geothermal and geological activities, and the landscape is coated with a thick coating of lava. We will have a quick yet amazing stop by the lake.

Grænavatn - A small lake on the Reykjanes Peninsula called Grænavatn is well-known for its striking colors.

The name “Grænavatn” translates to “Green Lake,” and as the name implies, the lake’s color is caused by the presence of sulphur, which gives it a seafoam green hue. The green is more vibrant the closer it is to the feature’s center.

Fagradalsfjall Volcano Eruptions: 2023, 2022, 2021 - You will observe the current eruption site of Meradalur and get to experience a genuine volcano after passing past the location of the last eruption. One of the most breathtaking vistas the world has to offer may be seen as you get closer to the Fagradalsfjall volcano’s fissures. You will have plenty of time to explore, and your guide will allow you to come as close as is safe.

Please be aware that although the volcano is no longer active, we will still tour the recently formed crater and lava field.

Bridge Between Continents - The Bridge Between the Continents is a bridge that connects the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates on the Reykjanes Peninsula.

Reykjanes Peninsula is surrounded by volcanoes and covered with lava rock, demonstrating the impact this rift has on the country’s landscape. There are also several educational signage around the area.

Gunnuhver Hot Springs - A striking and vibrant geothermal area of several mud pools and fumaroles in the southwest of the Reykjanes Peninsula is known by the name Gunnuhver. It is connected to an intriguing local tale. Our Guide will glance you through every interesting story about the place.

The story of Gunnuhver is an illustration of traditional Icelandic folklore because it connects the adversity of island life with ghosts, curses, and the divine force of Christianity.

Blue Lagoon - Blue Lagoon is regarded as one of the country’s most delightful and romantic destinations. The water is translucent and strikingly blue, and it is surrounded by a variety of spectacular volcanic scenery. The spa’s excellent ambiance is further enhanced by rising steam pillars. A prefect place to relax after a long day.

The Golden Circle

Thingvellir National Park - Our first destination is Þingvellir National Park, where you will get the chance to walk between two tectonic plates. North American and Eurasian that are drifting apart approx. 2.5 cm year! You will have time to walk around the park, admire beautiful Öxarárfoss and see the first Icelandic parliament or as it is called Althingi in Icelandic.

Geysir - Next on our agenda is Geysir geothermal area with an active geyser called Strokkur which erupts approximately every 10 minutes. We will stop there for a while, so you will have time to try to take an iconic photo with a geyser erupting like a fountain behind you. There are restaurants located next to the geyser area that you can check on if you get hungry, want to buy souvenirs or use the toilet.

Gullfoss Waterfall - Our next stop is spectacular Gullfoss or Golden Falls in English. This amazing waterfall has been visited by tourists since 1875, it is very powerful but it is also known for its beauty as you might see a rainbow above the water or a golden hue shining in its glacier water.

Efstidalur II - The Efstidalur farm is where we go. An Icelandic family-run farm concentrates on cow and cattle breeding and adheres to traditional Icelandic farming culture. You’ll be able to take in the magnificent mountain views, sample their exquisite dairy and food items, and witness the friendly animals while sampling their handcrafted ice cream.

After this stop, we will also stop at a nearby place to pat the horses.

The South Coast

Seljalandsfoss - Seljalandsfoss waterfall and gljúfrabúi

Seljalandsfoss is a fascinating waterfall and perhaps one of the most visited waterfalls in Iceland. It’s popularity is well deserved though as the Seljalandsfoss waterfall houses a very special surprise, in the summertime you are able to walk behind the cascade and get a tremendous view of the waterfall from behind. The water that feeds this 60m tall waterfall originates from the (in)famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier-capped volcano.

Skógarfoss - Skógarfoss Waterfall

The first stop we make is at the Skógafoss waterfall. The waterfall drops down from old sea cliffs some breathtaking 60 meters having the views of Eyjafjallajökull volcano in the background on a good day. The power from the water along with the height of the cliffs around leave you without words. The waterfall can be visited at two levels. At ground-level you can approach the water as close as you feel like and really feel the power of nature. Keep in mind the elements will take you with open arms and make you wet if you are not equipped with waterproof layers. There is also another path leading to a platform above the waterfall which gives you a view of the waterfall from a different angle. On a good day, the view of the surrounding landscape is not to miss, if you are ready to take on the climb of a few hundred steep steps.

Kvernufoss - Kvernufoss

Kvernufoss Waterfall - the less visited Neighbour of Skógafoss. Kvernufoss waterfall is a beautiful 30-meters high (98 ft) waterfall that is half-hidden away in a gorge and is often overlooked by travellers. Like seljalandsfoss you can walk behind it, and it is very photogenic. The path to the waterfall is beautiful as well. The perfect way to end a good day trip before you head to Reykjavik for more adventures.

Vik - Vík Village

we will then travel to the southernmost village in Iceland called Vík and stop for lunch. This is a beautiful little fishing village, with only 300 inhabitants. You can even pick up some handmade gifts that are handcrafted here and made from local ingredients.

Reynisfjara Beach - Reynisfjara black sand beach

Reynisfjara is a world-famous black-sand beach found on the South Coast of Iceland, just beside the small fishing village of Vík í Mýrdal.
From the black sand, you get a magnificent view of Reynisdrangar Sea Stacks, believed to be petrified trolls by the locals.

Dyrholaey - The Dyrhólaey Peninsula is a 120-meter boardwalk with breathtaking views of Iceland’s south coast, as well as a rock arch bearing the same name may be found there. Another main attractions are the classic lighthouse and a plethora of birds. If you are lucky enough Puffins can be seen here from late April until late August.
