Highlights

Arusha to Tarangire

Tarangire National Park - Depart from your location and embark on a 3-hour drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day of game viewing. After exploring the park, head to Marera View Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Tarangire National Park is situated 115 km from Arusha and spans an area of 2,800 square kilometers. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which attracts a variety of wildlife. Key attractions include large elephant populations, tree-climbing pythons, and baobab trees. You may also spot lions, leopards, and other animals.

Ngorongoro Crater Full Day

Ngorongoro Crater - Start your day at 6:30 am with breakfast before heading to the Ngorongoro Crater floor. Here, you can see the Big Five and various bird species, including the black rhino. Enjoy lunch inside the crater while observing the natural surroundings and high concentrations of flamingos. The Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive and intact volcanic caldera, was formed by a massive explosion and collapse 2 to 3 million years ago. It was recognized as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa in 2015. After a full day in the crater, drive to Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Lake Eyasi – Cultural Interaction

Lake Eyasi - After breakfast, travel the rugged road to Lake Eyasi, a soda lake in the Rift Valley. Arrive in the afternoon for a cultural interaction with the Tatoga tribe, guided by a local Tatoga guide. Explore the dry, rugged landscape on foot, home to the Hadzabe or Watindiga bushmen, who live by hunting and gathering as humans did 10,000 years ago. The Datoga tribe, also known as the Barabaig or Mang’ati, also inhabit this area and have historically competed with the Maasai for grazing land. In the evening, return to Arusha for an overnight stay.

Unforgettable trip ! - I had such an amazing experience with Meru Slopes Safaris. This was my first trip to Tanzania with my sister and we felt very safe and taken care of by the team. I highly recommend you to book with them !! This all started with Jerome who was very helpful from the beginning : replied very quickly to all my questions (and I had a lot), gave me some advice, helped me schedule my trip, gave me several options and helped me book the safari tour according my wishes. Had the chance to meet him in person once in Tanzania and he was very nice and friendly. He gave us a free city tour of Arusha, accepted to take us in a local restaurant and shared a meal with us. We also had the chance to meet Nickson who picked us up at the airport and took us on a tour. He provided us with great service the whole trip and was as nice and friendly as his colleague. Asante Sana (- than you) to all the team. All services were included and it was easier for us ; pick up and drop off from the airport, hotels, lunches, diners etc. Any extra will be indicated. Once you pay for it you just need to trust and enjoy the ride, everything will be done for you to live your best experience. All the guides we met were really dedicated. We did Tarangire Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Chemka Hot Spring, and Materuni Waterfalls where we also learnt how to make coffee with locals in the village. I absolutely loved watching animals but this for me was one of the best day and tour we had. I wish I had more time to do more, maybe next time. Do not hesitate to book with Meru Slopes, you won't regret it, believe me.

Totally recommended - We didn't book directly with Meru Slopes, my wife and I ended up joining one of their groups with Serengeti and Ngorongoro. After having done a total of 4 days of safari, with 2 different companies, there are some key points that everyone should keep in mind. The car is a fundamental factor. You spend practically the whole day in it and if it is very old and with bad seats, it can ruin the experience. In our case, we got a very good car. Another key factor is the staff. And we were very lucky! Our chef Yohana was the nicest guy. I had to do this part of the safari sick and he helped me every morning and every night by providing me with extra hot water and citrus fruit that I needed. He cooked the most delicious meals, but I think his attitude was the most important for us. Our driver and guide was Andrew, and he was a fun and knowledgeable guy. Andrew took us to the best places to see cheetahs, lions and other animals we weren't even expecting. He knew the name of every bird that crossed in front of us and patiently waited for us all to be ready to continue when we stopped to see something. In addition, very punctual with the hours, taking advantage of the best moments to visit the little ones. He was a great driver and that is also very appreciated, since many times the cars get stuck, the tires break. This was not our case, but he stopped on several occasions to help other groups. I preferred to talk about these topics, which are the ones that one can control before taking a tour, versus talking about what we saw... given that nature is uncontrollable. Fortunately we were very lucky in both ways, which made it an incredible experience. Having said all this and even though we did not book directly with them, I totally recommend Meru Slopes. Infinite thanks to Johana and Andrew!
