If there was an award for the best... -
If there was an award for the best tour guide ever, I would have nominated our tour guide Umar for his knowledge and all the information and history he provided to us. During the tour, there were a couple of couples in our group from the US, Switzerland, Austria and Malaysia. To me personally, this was one of the best values of a tour we had ever taken. It was a fantastic tour and well worth the money. Highlights of this tour were the Blue Mosque and Aya Sophia. We had a great day and would recommend this to anyone visiting Istanbul. Since it was a Sunday, we missed the Grand Bazaar tour but managed to go on our own the very next day. The stay at Recital Hotel was also pleasant. Its walking distance from all the historic attraction in istanbul. It was a perfect short break for me and my better-half

In last few years, I had used Viator... - In last few years, I had used Viator services, traveling to many countries and experienced satisfaction in general. However, during our recent trip to Turkey, the Istanbul tour package arranged by Viator were disgustingly disappointing and miserable. Transfers to and from the airport to hotel were a pain as no one showed up at the airport on our arrival and after hours of strenuous effort in contacting, finally someone showed up. On the day of departure the transportation to the airport arrived hours early, making us leaving the hotel early and long waiting at the airport.
The pick-up times for the day trips were confusing and never on time with incomplete itinerary. The hotel was one of the worst, where people were unprofessional and rude. Inoperable bathroom fixtures ended up with not being able to taking shower on the first day after long air-travel. Small refrigerator in the room was dead and room safe was inoperable during our entire stay. This was the first time ever we noticed most toiletries, etc., were absent and the room service was grossly poor. Now we regret having taken this tour package. We are now seriously thinking of exploring other alternative services towards our future travels.
