Transfer from Kigali to Akagera National Park

Akagera National Park - After breakfast, our safari guide will pick you up and transfer you to Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda. The drive takes about 2½ hours. Upon arrival, you’ll embark on a nature walk followed by lunch at Akagera Game Lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a canoe ride on Lake Ihema to observe aquatic animals like hippos and crocodiles, as well as water birds such as the papyrus gonolek, shoebill stork, and African fish eagle. You’ll return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Morning Game Drive – Transfer to Bwindi National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - After breakfast, set out on an early morning game drive to spot wildlife including elephants, impala, black-tailed mongoose, hippos, oribi, bushbuck, antelope, zebra, cape eland, giraffe, buffalo, and primates like the olive baboon, vervet monkey, and bush baby. Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Lake Bunyonyi - After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the guidelines for gorilla tracking. You’ll then proceed to the gorilla trail, which can take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours or even a full day to encounter the gorillas. You’ll be allowed to spend at least an hour with these magnificent apes. It’s recommended to carry a packed lunch, which will be provided, as the duration to find the gorillas is unpredictable. Later, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, driving through a picturesque region often called the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ due to its unique cool climate despite being near the Equator. This lake is considered one of the most beautiful spots in western Uganda. Lake Bunyonyi Tour and Transfer Back to Kigali

Kigali - After breakfast, take a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi to tour various islands. Then, head to the Katuna border to cross back into Rwanda. Upon arrival, embark on a Kigali City tour starting with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. Explore various city landmarks and craft markets before being transferred to Kigali Airport for your departure flight home.

Lake Bunyonyi - After an early breakfast, set out for a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi. Known as one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda, it is the second deepest lake in Africa (900 meters deep) and safe for swimming as it is bilharzia-free. The 2-hour boat ride will showcase the terraced hills surrounding the lake. Bunyonyi means ‘place of little birds,’ and as the name suggests, the area is rich in birdlife. Afterwards, transfer to Kigali.

Kigali Genocide Memorial - Cross the Katuna border back into Rwanda and start a Kigali City tour with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. Explore various city landmarks and craft markets before being transferred to Kigali Airport for your departure flight home.
