Unforgettable memory; 3 day Mt Kenya to Lenana Peak! - We did a 3-day trek to Mt Kenya with Equatorial Star. When preparing the trip, we knew 3 days would be pushing it, but unfortunately we did not have more days off from work. The team of Equatorial star was very helpful in preparing this trip and responded to our endless stream of questions. They recommended the Chogoria route, NO REGRETS HERE (what an amazing views on the gorge)!, and we managed to get to the Lenana peak on day 3. However, it would have been nice to have a 4-5 day itinerary, as it would have given us the chance to explore the beautiful surroundings a bit. As for the company, they were very professional, they came prepared, and the materials we rented from them were of good quality and fairly priced. Their professionalism really showed when one member of our group got a bit sick from the altitude. They did not doubt and helped her to get down safely and quickly, something we really appreciated as safety comes first at all times. The other guide and porters stayed with the remaining members and supported us to reach the top the next morning! We were also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food we got on top of a mountain. Popcorns and tea after a long day of walking are amazing! Asante Sana Equatorial star for the great experience! Would highly recommend them as they are company that is managed by the guides, cooks and porters themselves, the profits will not go to some business owners, but really support the people who helped you on your trip! Additionally, they had strict policies on the amount a porter can carry, which cannot be said for all other companies we saw along the way, where we saw porters being exploited with 30kg backpacks. In short, you will not regret a trip with Equatorial Star!

Fantastic 4 day Mount Kenya Excursion - Duncan and the Equatorial Star crew were the perfect guides for our 4 day Mount Kenya trek, culminating with the Lenana Point summit. We ascended via the Sirimon route and descended via Chogoria. Would highly recommend Chogoria route as the views and flora are spectacular. Duncan was very knowledgeable about the fascinating plants and flowers we encountered throughout the trek. The food was awesome. John, Joseph and Patrick were always attentive, providing us with snacks, tea and hot soup whenever we arrived to a new camp. Prior to commencing the trek, would definitely recommend reviewing the gear list that Equatorial Star have on their website. It gets quite cold and snowy up on Lenana. Overall, highly recommend going with Equatorial Star for your Mount Kenya excursion. Their passion for the outdoors and the beauty of Kenya are quite evident, and their patience and positivity are perfect for any pace.

Great Tour! - I did the Lenana Summit with my guide Duncan this past weekend and it was a very memorable experience. Everything was well organised and the guides took care that enough for and water fuelled us. With Duncan's experience we managed to plan our hikes in a way that we always arrived at the next camp just before the rains started. I can highly recommend those guys! And the tour is obviously spectacular, a truly beautiful mountain.
