Additional Information

Standing as the fifth tallest peak in Africa, Mount Meru towers at a height of 4,566 meters. Known for its breathtaking views, especially those of Mount Kilimanjaro, it provides a unique hiking experience. The venture up Mount Meru takes hikers through diverse vegetation zones; starting from the arid forest at the foot of the mountain, transitioning into lush mountain rainforest, and eventually leading to scrubland. As climbers advance towards the peak, the greenery recedes making way for alpine landscapes.

Compared to its counterparts, Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya, Mount Meru is less crowded. This adds to the appeal of the 3-night, 4-day trekking adventure on this Tanzanian mountain. A bonus for wildlife enthusiasts, they may encounter large animals like giraffes, buffaloes, baboons, colobus monkeys, and antelopes during their climb. However, for safety, trekking with an armed park ranger is mandatory.
