Great trip to 3 national parks in Tanzania, many animal sightings - The trip includes an afternoon in Tarangire NP, a day and a half in Serengeti, and a morning in Ngorongoro crater. If you are a single person it’s no problem, they’ll fit you in with another group and they leave daily. Our trip was in late December and the weather turned out perfect. The vehicle was a large 6-seat Jeep with a rooftop that lifts up so that you can get all the best views of the animals no matter which direction they are spotted. It comes with a charging station and refrigerator with cold water in the back. I’m a big guy but I found the jeep to be very spacious. In Tarangire we spotted mostly elephants but also one leopard in a tree and a lion having a nap. We had lunch on a picnic table in the park often visited by monkeys. Don’t let them steal your food! Serengeti was my favorite as we saw several leopards and many lions as well as countless zebra, wildebeest and others. The scenery is just endless grassland with the occasional granite rocks and small group of trees as landmarks. On the second day in Serengeti you also stop by the visitors center and get a brief tour by the staff there of the history of the park and all the plants and animals you may see there. You camp one night inside the park and see countless stars at night and the sounds of the animals seem quite close, almost too close for comfort! The last park was Ngorongoro crater, which is a large 600m deep depression which traps most of the animals inside. Here we saw rhinos in addition to many lions, elephants, zebra, and water buffalo. This park also has the most traffic, given its popularity, smaller size, and proximity to Arusha. It is possible to take just a one day tour to Ngorongoro but you only have about 3 hours in the park so most of your day is just travel back and forth. That’s why I think this 4 day trip is better. The accommodation on this trip is basic tent camping. Double check that you will get your own tent before booking, at one campsite they also have 2-4 person tents. Having a power bank is handy in case the power is not working at camp. You are provided with a sleeping bag but it is a simple one. Bring a sleeping bag liner to ensure you’ll be warm enough at Ngorongoro and Serengeti. Overall I’m very happy with this trip. Our guide Niko took good care of us and made sure we got great pictures of the animals. Our cook Kevin always had tasty meals ready on time.
