Highlights

Xi’an. O/N Xi’an.

Xi’an - In the morning, our tour guide will meet you at your Xi’an hotel lobby at 9:00am and then transfer you to the Terracotta Warriors Museum, which is an 80-minute drive (45km).

The Museum of Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses - We book your tickets online in advance, and your guide will help you skip the line at the entrance. Following your guide, you’ll explore the Terracotta Warriors Museum, visiting the three excavated pits and the Bronze Chariots and Horses Exhibition Hall. Despite being buried for over 2,200 years, the clay warriors and horses remain vivid with distinct appearances. You’ll spend at least two and a half hours at this incredible site.

Small Goose Pagoda - Next, we will transfer to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, located inside Jianfu Temple, about one kilometer south of Xi’an city proper. This is one of the two significant Buddhist pagodas built during the Tang Dynasty, around 1300 years ago. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda and its larger counterpart, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, are important Buddhist sites dating back to the Tang Dynasty.

The two pagodas symbolized Chang’an (Constant Peace) city. Xi’an (West Peace) was known as Chang’an until the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), when Beijing became the capital of China. Chang’an served as the capital for ten dynasties.

Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang) - After lunch, we will transfer to the city wall. You can walk or cycle around the wall, with bike rental fees paid locally if you choose to cycle. The ancient City Wall, which encircles the old city, is one of Xi’an’s most famous attractions. It is one of the oldest and best-preserved Chinese city walls and one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.

Muslim Quarter - Our last stop will be the Muslim Bazaar, the city’s most bustling area. You can explore the bazaar at your own pace and then return to the hotel on your own. Our guide will provide directions for returning to your hotel. The Great Mosque and the Bell and Drum Tower Square are within walking distance of the Bazaar. The Bazaar offers many boutique stores with fair prices and numerous excellent dining options for dinner.

Xi’an - Finally, your guide will escort you back to your hotel.

Xi’an - Guilin by flight. O/N Guilin.

Xi’an - In the morning, our tour guide will meet you at your Xi’an hotel lobby at 8:30am and then transfer you to Hanyanglin, a 30-minute drive (15km).

Tomb of Emperor Jingdi (Hanyangling) - We will first drive for one hour to visit the Hanyangling Mausoleum, the site of the Mausoleum of Western Han Emperor Liu Qi, built in 153 AD. With your guide, you’ll have a close look at the thousand-year-old tombs through the glass floors and walls in the tomb pits. Additionally, the advanced Spectra Vision program will recreate the real life of the Western Han Dynasty from about 2,000 years ago. You’ll have two hours to explore the site.

Shaanxi History Museum - After lunch, we continue our Xi’an group tour to the Shaanxi History Museum. The unique historical and cultural heritage of Shaanxi is undoubtedly a treasure trove of Chinese civilization, and the Shaanxi History Museum is a palace of art displaying Shaanxi’s history and culture and China’s ancient civilization. The museum houses around 370,000 antiquities, ranging from prehistoric relics to those from the 1840s, spanning over a million years. Your guide will provide professional explanations.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayanta) - Instead of entering the temple to visit the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, we will have a photo stop here for half an hour. Based on suggestions from our previous guests, it is enough to see the pagoda and the statue of Monk Xuanzang at the south square outside the temple. The pagoda, built during the Tang Dynasty, is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists, once used by Xuanzang to translate Buddhist sutras.

Today, the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda Area is a popular spot for both tourists and locals in Xi’an. It is a wonderful place to enjoy charming night scenes and relax. Around the pagoda, the south square leads to the Great Tang All Day Mall, where you can appreciate many unique Tang Dynasty-style sculptures and enjoy classical music performances in public. The north square features the largest musical fountain in Asia, which is free but has scheduled show times. If you’re interested, you can take a leisurely stroll here at night and then return to the hotel on your own. Your guide will provide directions back.

Xi’an Xianyang International Airport - After the tour, we (driver + guide) will drive you to Xi’an International Airport for your flight to Guilin (CA1225 18:40-20:55). The flight takes around 2 hours.

Guangxi Airport Management Group Guilin Liangjiang International Airport Company - Upon arrival in Guilin, you will be picked up and transferred to your Guilin hotel (driver only, no guide).

Guilin. O/N Guilin.

Guilin - Our guide will pick you up at your hotel lobby at around 09:30 in the morning and escort you to the famous Reed Flute Cave, a 30-minute ride away.

Reed Flute Cave (Ludi Yan) - Upon arrival at the cave, you will enter the underground karst cave and marvel at the amazing formations of stalagmites and stalactites.

The Reed Flute Cave is a renowned karst cave with numerous stalagmites and stalactites in the shapes of bamboo shoots, pillars, curtains, and flowers, turning it into a splendid underground palace. Inside the cave, you can discover more astonishing sights, such as stone lions, miniature forests, pagodas, and crystal chambers, each with a romantic or interesting story. The vivid interpretation of our guide, along with the lighting, adds mystery to the scene. A trip to the cave lasts about 40 minutes.

Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces - After a two-hour drive, we will reach the entrance for the Longji Terraces, where you will get the Longji entrance tickets for the rice terraces in Ping’an Village. This village has the most famous and beautiful rice terraces in Longji and is about a 30-minute drive from the entrance ticket office.
The Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces is a splendid agricultural spectacle with a history of over 650 years. The most eye-catching part of the terrace cluster is the Ping’an Village Rice Terrace, the earliest one discovered by tourists and photographers. Numerous narrow rice fields dug along the hill slopes form terraces connected by winding flagstone trails. There are viewing platforms for visitors to see the entire terrace fields built tier upon tier. While there, you can also experience the traditional way of life of the minority Zhuang people. It is quite interesting to help them in the fields, try on their bright-colored ethnic costumes, and visit their unique stilted houses.

Ping’an Village - Upon arrival, we will take a moderate trek along steps to Ping’an Zhuang Village. The walk up takes about 40 minutes. Our guide will take you on a stroll around the village, where you can glimpse the local Zhuang people’s unique wooden stilted houses and have lunch in the village.

After a short lunch break, continue your terrace exploration to the No.2 Viewing Platform (Seven Stars with the Moon), a 15-minute walk, which is a fantastic spot for a bird’s-eye view of the Longji Terraces beneath your feet. You’ll have enough time to take pictures and enjoy the fresh air at the platform. Then, we will head to the No.1 Viewing Platform (Nine Dragons and Five Tigers), a 30-minute walk via a flat path.

Guilin - Afterwards, take a private car to your Guilin hotel around 18:00pm, and enjoy free time.

Guilin - Yangshuo. O/N Yangshuo.

Guilin - In the morning, our guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel at around 07:45 and escort you to the Zhujiang pier, where you will start the Guilin Li River cruise to Yangshuo (4-star boat with buffet lunch).

Li River - The boarding time is scheduled for 9:20am, and the whole journey takes about 4 hours. With our guide’s company and interpretation, you can immerse yourself in the stunning karst landscape made up of rolling hills, verdant forests, odd caves, and tranquil villages along the Li River. A buffet Chinese lunch will be offered on board before you reach Yangshuo at 2:00pm.

Xianggong Mountain - After disembarkation, we will drive you to see the Yangshuo Xianggong Hill. We will climb for 15 minutes along a moderately sloped staircase to reach the top of Xianggong Hill. Please inform our guide in advance if you need a walking stick. Lying between the famous Yellow Cloth Shoal and the Mural Hill, Xianggong Hill is one of the greatest viewing platforms in Guilin to take in the beauty of the Li River. The supreme view of the meandering Li River making a 180-degree bend attracts countless visitors and photographers annually.

Yangshuo County - At the end, your guide will escort you to your Yangshuo hotel, and you will have free time.
There is a night show option in Yangshuo called ‘Impression Sanjie Liu,’ performed above and on the Li River against verdant hills. The dreamlike stage effect and original singing and dancing of national minorities have earned the performance a great reputation among visitors. The show begins at 20:00 and lasts for 70 minutes; ticket prices range from CNY 268 to CNY 368 depending on the seats. If you’re interested, our guide will reserve tickets for you and escort you to the site after you finish your dinner.

Yangshuo. The tour ends

Yangshuo County - In the morning, our guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel at around 09:00 and escort you to the Yulong River, where you will start the Yangshuo Yulong bamboo boat tour.

Yulong River - Taking a bamboo raft ride on the Yulong River (or Dragon River), a tributary of the Li River, is a very relaxing way to enjoy the highly scenic area south of Yangshuo. Here you can enjoy the stunning scenery and views of country life on a non-motorized raft in the traditional way, with a gondolier who steers you over the breakwaters past many small mud-brick villages and farmlands. Once you’re on the bamboo raft, sitting and enjoying the peaceful countryside and limestone mountains, the beauty of this experience unfolds before you. Even if you have cycled the area with a few hidden stretches approaching the river, the view from the river is very different. The boat ride lasts for 50 minutes, one way.

Fuli Ancient Town - Next, we will go to Yangshuo Fuli Town by car, a 20-minute drive. In this town, we will take you to experience the life of local farmers. First, our guide will escort you to a local market, then head to the old streets to see the fans, paintings, and water buffalo near the river (at the end of the street).

Xingping Town - Once a sleepy riverside village, Xingping has grown into a town, with the old center easily explored in about an hour. Xingping has a long history, with many buildings dating back to the Qing and Ming dynasties. On local market days, the town comes to life and can get quite busy with locals from surrounding villages coming to buy and sell their produce. Restaurants and coffee shops sell the local specialty, beer fish, and local handicrafts, ranging from cheap handmade jewelry to more expensive items. The scenery around Xingping is magnificent, and you can see the view immortalized on the national 20 RMB note.

Guangxi Airport Management Group Guilin Liangjiang International Airport Company - After lunch in Xingping, we will transfer you to the Guilin airport/train station or back to your Yangshuo hotel. This marks the end of our 5-day Xi’an-Guilin tour.
