The Great Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum Tour
Pyramids of Giza - Start your day with a delightful breakfast at your hotel, then meet your tour guide to explore some of Cairo’s premier tourist attractions. The Giza pyramids complex, over 4000 years old, stands as one of the world’s most ancient monuments. This complex includes three main pyramids, six smaller pyramids, the Great Sphinx, and the Valley Temple, which serves as a house of eternal preservation.
Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - The Great Pyramid of Khufu is a marvel waiting to be discovered. As the only remaining structure of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, it was built in 2580 BC over a span of 20 years. Constructed using 2,300,000 limestone blocks, each weighing 2.5 tons, and a workforce of 100,000 skilled laborers, it reaches a height of 147 meters (481 feet), making it the tallest building in the world at the time.
Great Sphinx - The Great Sphinx is an enigmatic guardian from above, shaped as a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a man, believed to represent King Khafre, symbolizing his eternal power and wisdom. Standing 73 meters (240 feet) long and 19 meters (66 feet) high, it was carved from a single limestone rock and has remained shrouded in mystery since its construction during the Old Kingdom (2686–2134 BC).
The Valley Temple, also built during Egypt’s Old Kingdom, was part of the complex and played a crucial role in the mummification process. It is one of the best-preserved archaeological sites of ancient Egyptian civilization, offering valuable insights into ancient Egyptian mummification practices. The temple is constructed from limestone and granite and houses impressive diorite statues of King Khafre.
The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - The Egyptian Museum is a magnificent repository of beauty and wonder, housing the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts and monuments, some over 4000 years old. Inside the two-story building, you’ll find more than 150,000 artifacts crafted from both luxurious materials like gold, silver, and gemstones, as well as more common ones like wood and stone. These artifacts include statues, funerary objects such as the treasures of King Tutankhamun, the Narmer Palette, papyrus scrolls, numerous mummies, and many other invaluable items.
Fly to Aswan - Visit Aswan Top Attractions
Aswan - our driver pick you up from your hotel and transferred to Cairo airport to have your flight to Aswan.
Aswan High Dam - when you arrive Aswan you will find your guide waiting for your to start your tour by visiting The Aswan High Dam, a relatively modern marvel, was built between 1960 and 1970 during the presidency of Gamal Abdel Nasser. Designed in collaboration with the Moscow-based Hydroproject Institute, the dam was created to better manage Nile floods, generate hydroelectric power, and increase water storage for irrigation in its reservoir, Lake Nasser. However, its construction also posed a threat to the ancient Abu Simbel and Philae temples.
Unfinished Obelisk - The Unfinished Obelisk, commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut (1508-1458 BC), was intended to stand at the entrance of the Karnak Temple. Known as “Tekhenu,” meaning “to pierce the sky,” it illustrates the ancient Egyptian methods of crafting and constructing obelisks from scratch. The obelisk was planned to reach a height of 42 meters and weigh 1200 tons. Unfortunately, it cracked during construction and remains in its original location to this day.
Temple of Philae - Philae Temple tells the ancient “Myth of Osiris,” in which Osiris, husband of Isis, is killed by his envious brother Set. Osiris is then resurrected to become the ruler of the underworld. Set is ultimately defeated by Isis and Osiris’ son, Horus, the sky god, ushering in an era of peace, prosperity, and justice. In the 1960s, the temple was relocated as part of a UNESCO-led rescue mission following the construction of the Aswan High Dam. After visiting, you’ll check into a 5-star hotel in Aswan for your overnight stay.
Visit Abu Simbel - Fly to Cairo
Abu Simbel Temple Complex - In the early morning, you’ll be transferred with breakfast boxes to explore one of Egypt’s most significant archaeological wonders. The Great Temple of Abu Simbel stands as the final gateway to Egypt, guarding its southern border since its construction by King Ramses II during the New Kingdom period. Built between 1279 and 1213 BCE, this majestic complex comprises two temples: the grand temple dedicated to Ramses II and a smaller one honoring his beloved wife, Queen Nefertari.
Abu Simbel’s temples were relocated in the mid-60s as part of an ambitious UNESCO-led rescue mission, considered one of the most challenging archaeological operations in history. After your visit, return to Aswan for lunch before catching your flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
