The Great Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum Tour

Pyramids of Giza - Start your day with a delightful breakfast at your hotel, then meet your tour guide to explore some of Cairo’s premier tourist attractions. The Giza pyramids complex, over 4000 years old, stands as one of the world’s most ancient monuments. This complex includes three main pyramids, six smaller pyramids, the Great Sphinx, and the Valley Temple, which serves as a house of eternal preservation.

Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - The Great Pyramid of Khufu is a marvel waiting to be discovered. As the only remaining structure of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, it was built in 2580 BC over a span of 20 years. Constructed using 2,300,000 limestone blocks, each weighing 2.5 tons, and a workforce of 100,000 skilled laborers, it reaches a height of 147 meters (481 feet), making it the tallest building in the world at the time.

Great Sphinx - The Great Sphinx is an enigmatic guardian from above, shaped as a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a man, believed to represent King Khafre, symbolizing his eternal power and wisdom. Standing 73 meters (240 feet) long and 19 meters (66 feet) high, it was carved from a single limestone rock and has remained shrouded in mystery since its construction during the Old Kingdom (2686–2134 BC).

The Valley Temple, also built during Egypt’s Old Kingdom, was part of the complex and played a crucial role in the mummification process. It is one of the best-preserved archaeological sites of ancient Egyptian civilization, offering valuable insights into ancient Egyptian mummification practices. The temple is constructed from limestone and granite and houses impressive diorite statues of King Khafre.

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - The Egyptian Museum is a magnificent repository of beauty and wonder, housing the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts and monuments, some over 4000 years old. Inside the two-story building, you’ll find more than 150,000 artifacts crafted from both luxurious materials like gold, silver, and gemstones, as well as more common ones like wood and stone. These artifacts include statues, funerary objects such as the treasures of King Tutankhamun, the Narmer Palette, papyrus scrolls, numerous mummies, and many other invaluable items.

Fly to Aswan - Visit Aswan Top Attractions

Aswan - our driver pick you up from your hotel and transferred to Cairo airport to have your flight to Aswan.

Aswan High Dam - when you arrive Aswan you will find your guide waiting for your to start your tour by visiting The Aswan High Dam, a relatively modern marvel, was built between 1960 and 1970 during the presidency of Gamal Abdel Nasser. Designed in collaboration with the Moscow-based Hydroproject Institute, the dam was created to better manage Nile floods, generate hydroelectric power, and increase water storage for irrigation in its reservoir, Lake Nasser. However, its construction also posed a threat to the ancient Abu Simbel and Philae temples.

Unfinished Obelisk - The Unfinished Obelisk, commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut (1508-1458 BC), was intended to stand at the entrance of the Karnak Temple. Known as “Tekhenu,” meaning “to pierce the sky,” it illustrates the ancient Egyptian methods of crafting and constructing obelisks from scratch. The obelisk was planned to reach a height of 42 meters and weigh 1200 tons. Unfortunately, it cracked during construction and remains in its original location to this day.

Temple of Philae - Philae Temple tells the ancient “Myth of Osiris,” in which Osiris, husband of Isis, is killed by his envious brother Set. Osiris is then resurrected to become the ruler of the underworld. Set is ultimately defeated by Isis and Osiris’ son, Horus, the sky god, ushering in an era of peace, prosperity, and justice. In the 1960s, the temple was relocated as part of a UNESCO-led rescue mission following the construction of the Aswan High Dam. After visiting, you’ll check into a 5-star hotel in Aswan for your overnight stay.

Visit Abu Simbel - Fly to Cairo

Abu Simbel Temple Complex - In the early morning, you’ll be transferred with breakfast boxes to explore one of Egypt’s most significant archaeological wonders. The Great Temple of Abu Simbel stands as the final gateway to Egypt, guarding its southern border since its construction by King Ramses II during the New Kingdom period. Built between 1279 and 1213 BCE, this majestic complex comprises two temples: the grand temple dedicated to Ramses II and a smaller one honoring his beloved wife, Queen Nefertari.

Abu Simbel’s temples were relocated in the mid-60s as part of an ambitious UNESCO-led rescue mission, considered one of the most challenging archaeological operations in history. After your visit, return to Aswan for lunch before catching your flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Fantastic half day guided tour of Grand Egyptian Museum and Coptic Cairo! - We did a half day tour during a long layover in Cairo. Our driver picked us up from the airport and we met up with Mina Wasfy on the way to the Grand Egyptian Museum. We had a very informative and extensive background of Egyptian history during the drive and while at the museum while our bags were safely watched by our driver. It was clear that Mina had a strong passion for Egyptian history and was proud of his heritage. Though the museum is not yet fully open, we learned so much about Egyptian history and culture with Mina’s guidance. We also got to visit an authentic Egyptian cotton store. We also elected to continue our tour to the Coptic area of Cairo, which Mina was equally knowledgeable about. Overall would highly recommend this tour of Cairo!

Brilliant day with a fantastic, knowledgeable guide and friendly driver - Booked a day trip with Ramasside tours to see the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, Sakara and Memphis. With a food tour later on in the evening . Booking was easy, we were given our guides name the day before the tour. Our tour guide Paula was brilliant, he message us when they got to the hotel. Paula was so friendly and knowledgeable. He taught us so much about Egyptian history past and present. He took some amazing pictures and gave us the option of visiting other places along the way. Our driver Ahmed was friendly and deserves a medal for driving in the city that has lanes which no one uses 😂. They were kind enough to drop us back to our hotel so we could freshen up before the food tour. We went to the centre of Cairo, this is not for the faint hearted, it is super busy, people, police and cars everywhere. Vendors are quite pushy but Paula was really good at saying no and I felt much better being with him. If you like hustle and bustle like my husband you will love it. I was less enthusiastic. We tried a local dish called Koshari which was really tasty. Huge thank you to Paula and Ahmed for making this a fantastic day.

Indian food was rarely available in Egypt. The guide Mr Paula Samir was extremely excellent. He has deep knowledge about the history of Egyptians. He explained the details very minutely. In total, worth of money!!!

Spectacular - Wow what a spectacular tour. I actually cried when I saw the pyramids the first time and Mina didn’t even laugh at me haha Mina was over-and-beyond helpful and accommodating, the transportation was easy and impressively agile for just a big, hot city. We got to do everything we could do in one day, and when we got to the museum, Mina knew just what to show us so that the my son had a great time, and didn’t get bored. 10/10 tour. Would recommend to anyone.

Custom Aswan-Abu Simbel Experience - My custom trip to Aswan/Abu Simbel from Cairo was expertly planned by Ramasside Tours. The logistics were clear and well communicated. I was travelling alone but my tour guide Mustafa was so kind and knowledgeable I felt I was travelling with a friend. The entire experience was great and very smooth. My favorite thing was the evening sound and light show at Abu Simbel. Would recommend!
