Kilimanjaro Region - Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where you will meet an our representative, and transfer to “Aishi Machame” or “Altezza Lodge” hotel in Moshi. There you will find everything you need after the flight - hot water, polite staff, a swimming pool, nice restaurant and internet access.

Our comfortable and modern transfer vehicles have complimentary Wi-Fi and bottled water on board.

Additional Information

Often overshadowed by the allure of Mt Kilimanjaro, Mt Meru, Tanzania’s second tallest peak, is regularly underestimated by hikers. Dominating the skyline of Arusha National Park, Mount Meru serves as an ideal preparatory hike for Kilimanjaro, whilst remaining a compelling and scenic journey into the wilderness on its own.

Exploring Mount Meru is a true escapade. The hillsides of this sleeping (but not extinct - it last erupted in 1910) volcano provide captivating panoramic views and a vibrant wildlife habitat.

This volcano cropped up roughly half a million years ago, and its inaugural eruption sharply defined its eastern side, giving it its distinctive shape. Not to mention, Mt Meru boasts one of the deepest crater depths – exceeding 1,500 meters!

Our certified, Wilderness First Responder-qualified mountain guides will be guiding your trek. The Altezza Travel mountain team is responsible for all camping logistics, food, and other key expedition necessities.

In contrast to the shorter 3-day option, this Mt Meru trek includes an additional day for the descent.

4 day trek of Mt Meru - Mount Meru is an amazing place, such diverse ecosystems on any given day of trekking. Summit day was such a test of your physical ability but so worth the breath taking views we got to experience. Our team lead by Emmanuel are such a competent and amazing group that couldn't do enough to ensure our experience was the best it could be. Most definitely highly recommend Altezza to anyone looking to trek Mount Meru.

Amazing experience on Mount Meru - We booked the 4 day Mount Meru Tour with Altezza Travel. The tour was amazing. From planning, until the end Altezza was very professionell. Our guides John and Peter and the whole crew made us feel very safe all the time. They updated us constantly. Safety is the most important thing, so they decided not to start the summit at 1 am, but at 4 am because of the weather conditions. This was the best decision, the views were amazing. Other hikers we met who had booked with other tour operators would rather listen to our guides than to theirs. I can recommend Altezza Travel to all of you!

A fantastic Mt. Meru adventure with superb Altezza - We did the Mount Meru trek as a family of 4 (children aged 15 and 17). The entire experience with Altezza was outstanding, from the pre-departure communication and organisation to the levels of service onsite in Tanzania. The guides and porters were superbly professional and flexible, and did everything with a sense of calm and a smile. The food was excellent throughout. The trek itself is a beautiful climb through many different climate zones, with surprisingly well-equipped camps. The final summit night is tough but the views are worth it. Also to mention that the nights before and after the trek are in the excellent and peaceful Aishi Machame Hotel, which is nestled in the forest at the foot of Kilimanjaro.
