Kilimanjaro National Park - Drive to the attractive wooden village of Nale Moru (about 2 hours including a stop to get permits at Marangu). After signing in and preparing the porters, you will begin the hike on a wide path that winds through fields of maize and potatoes before entering pine forest. The track then starts to climb consistently but gently through attractive forest that shelters a variety of wildlife. The forest begins to thin out and the first camp is at the edge of the moorland zone with extensive views over the Kenyan plains.

This route commences from the northern part of the mountain, just below the Kenyan border, and is one of the less frequently used routes. On the way back, trekkers descend using the Marangu Route on the mountain’s southern face, offering them varied perspectives of the mountain.
Reaching the trail’s beginning point from Moshi involves approximately a three-hour drive, passing many villages and coffee plantations, also including a stop to register for climbing permits at Marangu.
Access to the Rongai Route is also possible through Amboseli National Park, Kenya, which takes around two hours, including the time spent at the border crossing. Please submit copies of the passports prior to the journey.
