Additional Information

The Machame route is scenically beautiful and varied. However, due to its popularity there are increased numbers of trekkers, it loses some of its splendour. The Machame route approaches the summit from the southwest and descends using the Mweka route, rewarding climbers with views of the expansive Shira Plateau, an optional scramble up Lava Tower, a climb up the Great Barranco wall, and a traverse underneath Kilimanjaro’s southern ice field.

In certain sections this route is steeper than the Marangu and Rongai routes and physically more demanding but is easier overall.

Great for acclimatization with lots of walk high, sleep low opportunities.

Challenging trek with stunning scenery through 5 diverse climatic zones.

7-Day Machame Route - We chose Kilimanjaro Wonders/Kwesa as our company, because Edward was always quick to respond to any and all questions we had regarding the climb. My son and I booked the 7-day Machame route, and we expected other climbers to be in our group. Because it was early in the new season, we were the only two climbing (5/28/24-6/3/24). The team they sent with us was comprised of 13 people (head guide (Haji), lead guide (Joffrey), cook, waiter, and porters). Haji was going up for his 420th summit. Needless to say, we were in great hands. Their experience on the mountain showed through every day. Haji and Joffrey went above and beyond any reasonable expectation a client could have for their guides. It was as important to them as it was to my son and I that they saw us to the top of the mountain. We couldn't have accomplished our goals without the support and professionalism displayed by the Kwesa team. Sincerely, David and Jonah Stuckey

I highly recommend Haji and KWESA. - My friends Pablo and Cantina and I recently hiked Kilimanjaro in six days using the Machame route. We had an excellent guided hike around Haji and Kileo. They were excellent and took excellent care of us. The route is very hard but we were lucky to have a good team supporting us. We had good tents, comfortable sleeping bags, and enough supplies for the hike. They made sure we were in good health, ate well, and slept well. We reached the summit in good spirits and enjoyed the views from the top. I loved the experience and I'm sure you would too. I highly recommend the Haji and Machame route.

Kilimanjaro - Off Our Bucket List - We were back in Tanzania with KWESA again, this time for Kilimanjaro. Teacher was reliable and organized as usual, he worked with us as we prepared for the trek, was with us when we arrived in Tanzania and introduced us to our crew. We had Senior guide Jamleck leading seven porters and Kivase our cook. They were all charming individuals and also very experienced on supporting climbers on Kilimanjaro. They deserve all the credit for keeping us safe, in good health and well fed/hydrated at all times during the trek. Getting to the summit was tough. On the summit night Jamleck supported my wife, while Gedi one of the porters was with me. They worked super hard and tirelessly to get us to the summit. I am happy that Teacher doesn't compromise on safety or comfort because we had an incredible trek Thank you guys! Otar and Chika

Pain, Joy, Fulfillment and Victory - Mt Kilimanjaro climb was supposed to be a bucket list strike off for me but it suddenly turned out to be a test of my will and tenacity. My experience is one of pain, joy, fulfillment, victory, a new sense of direction and longing for more adventures. In achieving my climb up the mountain, I couldn't have dont it without prayers and on the physcial side, Kwesa tours was there for me at every step. Kwesa tours is exactly the type of tour guide you need up the mountain. Their team is undoubtedly superhuman and they are there to motivate, cheer you on and generally attend to you. I am glad I choose Kwesa tours as my guide. I surely recommend them.

Hakuna Matata!! Thank you Teacher - Our recent Kilimanjaro trek was absolutely fantastic. Teacher the director was super responsive and very thorough in his emails which made our preparation smooth and easy. The expert guides, porters and cook gave their best in the trip. They did everything to keep us motivated, well fed, sleeping in nice clean tents, serving great food, purified water, totted ginger tea..... I appreciate that every aspect of the trip aside from the weather was well planned in advance that we had no nasty surprises. I really got close to Eddie who was the head guide as he was closest to me. I learnt so much about Tanzania and Kilimanjaro from him. I almost forgot to mention that these guys took our health very seriously. They were well prepared with Oxmetres, oxygen bottles and kitted first aid kit. Thank you Teacher for getting us to the top. We owe you big time Hakuna Matata Sherie

Tremendously fantastic - My husband and I recently did the 6 days Kilimanjaro Machame trek and 4 days safari to Tarangire, Ngorngoro and Serengeti and we are very impressed by the sheer work and organization that Teacher and his team put in to give us a more than perfect trip. Everything ran like clock-work, planned in advance and nothing was out place, aside from the wet weather during the trek which is beyond their control. I must commend the climbing crew for keeping us safe, well fed and captivated all through the trek, helping us when we struggled, particularly on the summit night. You guys are simply great. We will not forget you for years to come. The safari was awesome too! We saw many different animals, great landscapes and accommodations were fantastic.

Unforgettable Kilimanjaro Conquest - We had an unforgettable trip 6 days trek to the summit of Kilimanjaro. This trek was quite challenging that even our rigorous preparation without the support of guide Musa and crew would not have gotten us to the summit. Machame trail snakes through changing habitats as we went higher, we had mild AMS but Musa knew how get us back us steady with herbal teas and portable oxygen tanks. My sincere thanks to Hamis our cook for preparing delicious meals at all times. 100 percent recommend KWESA
