Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to the hotel

Entebbe - Amity Safaris’ driver-tour guide will welcome you at Entebbe International Airport upon arrival, provide a full briefing on the safari, and take you to the hotel for rest before the adventure begins. In the remaining hours, guests may choose a city tour to sample local dishes and visit historical sites around Kampala.

Transfer from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park - After an early morning breakfast, guests will board the safari vehicle and set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive follows the Kampala-Masaka highway with a stop at the equator for photos and souvenir shopping, then continues to Mbarara city with a lunch stop at the Igongo Cultural Center. The journey proceeds to Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to over 95 mammal species and more than 600 bird species, and understandably Uganda’s most popular tourist destination.

Upon arrival in the afternoon, guests will register and enjoy a game drive in search of antelopes, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, lions, and many other animals, along with a variety of bird species.

Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura and boat trip at Kazinga Channel

Kibale National Park - The day begins with breakfast before setting off for chimpanzee trekking in the Kyambura or Kalinzu forest, an incredible experience lasting 3-4 hours, after which guests return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel offers encounters with aquatic life including hippos, elephants drinking from the river, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species, followed by a return to the lodge for a well-earned rest.

Game drive in the Ishasha sector and transfer to Bwindi National Park

Kibale National Park - Today’s adventure begins with a morning breakfast before heading south of the park, arriving in the Ishasha sector in the late morning. In this area, guests are likely to see tree-climbing lions, an exciting highlight of the safari that will surely create lasting memories.

Lunch will be packed or enjoyed during a stopover in Kihihi, and shortly after, the journey continues past the spectacular mountainous landscape of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest toward the Ruhija sector, where the mountain gorilla trek will begin the next day. Upon arrival in the afternoon, guests may choose to go on a community walk to learn more about the area.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to half of the world’s gorilla population and features a tropical forest spread over mountains and valleys. It is considered one of the richest forests in Africa in terms of biodiversity, making it a remarkable destination for mountain gorilla trekking.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park and transfer to Kisoro

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - The day begins with an early morning breakfast before proceeding to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest headquarters for a briefing by game rangers on the gorilla trekking process. After the briefing, guests start the trek through the thick rainforest vegetation, lasting about 2 to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are found, but spotting them will be well worth the effort.

After trekking, the journey heads south to the district of Kisoro, a few kilometers from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where golden monkey trekking will take place the following day.

Golden Monkey trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park - After breakfast in the morning, guests head to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for golden monkey trekking. Trekking these rare species lasts 3-4 hours, accompanied by astonishing views of the peaks of the Volcanoes National Park. In addition to golden monkey trekking, sightings of bird species such as the Rwenzori Turaco, the Colobus, and many others are highly likely.

After the trek, guests head to Amajambere Iwacu Community Camp (AICC) for a lunch break and shortly after, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, the “Little Switzerland of Africa” and Africa’s second deepest lake after Lake Tanganyika in Tanzania.

Lake Victoria - At Lake Bunyonyi, guests enjoy boat canoeing while exploring green and lush terraced hills and various bird species, before heading to the lodge for dinner and a well-earned rest.

Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala/Entebbe

Kampala - This is the last day of the 7-day Uganda primates and wildlife adventure. The day begins with a morning breakfast before heading back to Kampala/Entebbe for the return flight. Along the way, there is a stop at the equator for a lunch break and extra photo opportunities if desired, then the drive continues to Kampala with a drop-off at Entebbe International Airport for the return flight or at the hotel for an extended stay.
