Astonishing Guide To Omo valley - I did my pre-trip research and chose Ethiopian Wanderer Tours due to the great reviews - plus fact destaw engages local guides and really knows the people. (I very quickly learned everyone seems to know him too!!) We covered a lot of ground on the 5 day trip but I never felt rushed or pressured - the balance of holiday and adventure was perfect. We visited Hamar, Dassenach, Karo, Mursi, Konso and Dorze villages as well as markets in Turmi/Key Afer and the Jinka museum. I was particularly lucky to witness a Hamar bull jumping ceremony. I’d read about it but nothing can prepare you for the reality. A truly amazing experience - made even more special by desta, our local guide extraordinaire. A river en route to the village was in flood and our 4WD couldn’t get across - but that was never going to stop us. A motorbike was found and we were off for the experience of a lifetime. alex, our driver, got us through seemingly impossible terrain with style and a smile. I spent our hours on the road happily watching the world go by. The scenery. Wow. The scenery seemed to change every half hour and was just wow…. Accommodation was all great with good food - western options as well as local. Destaw’s suggestions were always appreciated - especially when it came to the end of day beer. Summary - if you are thinking about visiting the Omo Valley then get in touch with destaw - you won’t be disappointed!

Southern Ethiopia - from the Rift Valley to the Bale Mountains - Together with desta I spent roughly two weeks within the South of Ethiopia. We were visiting Shashamane, Hawassa, Wondo Genet and the Bale Mountains. It was an amazing time and in the three times I have traveled to Ethiopia, he was by far the best guide I ever had. desta organized everything from the car to the accommodations and I always felt super comfortable and safe. I always could rely on him and had a wonderful time. Thank you so much for your help and the amazing trips!!!

Expert Guide--Very Personsable And Knowledgeable - It was a true pleasure to have Abebe lead our group of ten around Ethiopia. Abebe was very accommodating to our requests, and ensured that we had adequate time to view sites and places of interest according to our itinerary. He went out of his way to ensure we had very authentic experiences with local people, and shared about his own personal experiences in Ethiopia when it was appropriate to discuss these with our group. Abebe is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, and maintained a very positive attitude with our group for the duration of our time in Ethiopia. He went out of his way to get to know group members in an appropriate way, and was very compassionate and caring when explaining local traditions and customs to our group. Would certainly ask him again to guide future groups.

Authentic Ethiopia - I have done multiple trips with Abebe over the years and my experiences were always excellent. Abebe always goes the extra mile to make trips especially memorable, individual and authentic. He does not take you to overpriced tourist restaurants, but to the insider places not everyone knows. He does not take you to boring nightclubs that try to copy Europe/ the US, but to clubs that are authentically Ethiopian. He does not pick you up in a bus that screams With the best model car. Even though I am quite obviously not from Ethiopia, Abebe gives me a very local and authentic experience. After all, that is why I am travelling... This approach, his kindness, resourcefullness (wherever you are, whatever you need, Abebe knows what to do), communication and flexibility make me recommend him without any hesitation. REach out if you want to know anything else.
