Highlights

Today your cultural tour begins

Nanyuki - Today we pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Wilson Airport for the 45-minute flight to Nanyuki, which is a small town in the scenic foothills of Mount Kenya. We then embark on a drive to the camp in eastern Laikipia, which is about a two-hour drive north of Nanyuki. The camp will be your home for the next four nights. Laikipia lies northeast of the Great Rift Valley and is a vast plateau where landowners and conservationists have created a special place for communities and wildlife to coexist.

The camp looks westward toward a series of granite kopjes (outcrops of rock), and in the foreground you might see zebra, giraffe and antelope on the open grasslands. The camp features six spacious walk-in traditional safari tents decorated with colourful African furnishings and fabrics, and the home-cooked food is always varied, fresh and tasty. In the evenings we have drinks, or sundowners, overlooking the bush or by the fire and three-course dinners under the stars.

Additional Information

This intriguing 8-day journey of culture and wildlife will enchant those who desire to interact with and assist Kenyan natives in small-scale social ventures, as well as participate in an eco-friendly safari in a conservancy where wildlife bloom and communities flourish.

The initial half of this trip transports you to the Laikipia Plateau near Mount Kenya, a region committed to preserving wildlife while collaborating with the indigenous Samburu and Maasai populations. It provides an authentic safari encounter for all visitors, and activities can be as relaxed or dynamic as you prefer. You have the option of a casual safari stroll, a camel ride, or hopping in a 4x4 for viewing game.

Once you return to Nairobi, you will have the honor of acquainting with three communities and observe how Kenyans are surmounting poverty. We guide you to a community of grandmothers initiating small enterprises, a women’s vocational training facility for young mothers, and a Maasai village to experience conventional lifestyles. Three awe-inspiring days.
