Kochi (arrival)

Fort Kochi - Arrive by flight at Kochi by noon. The serene Kochi (a.k.a. Cochin) has been drawing traders and explorers to its shores for over 600 years. Nowhere else in India could you find such an intriguing mix of giant fishing nets from China, a 400-year-old synagogue, ancient mosques, Portuguese houses and the crumbling remains of the British Raj. The result is an unusual blend of medieval Netherlands, Portugal and an English village grafted onto the tropical Malabar Coast.
The private car will pick up from the Kochi airport and transfer you to your hotel in Kochi. In the afternoon head out for local sightseeing tour of Kochi. Visit the Cochin Spice Market & Chinese fishing nets, the biggest attractions of Kochi.
Overnight stay will be at the hotel in Kochi.

Kochi – Munnar [5 hours by road]

Munnar - After breakfast check-out from the hotel and head straight to Munnar. The rolling hills around Munnar, South India’s largest tea-growing region, are carpeted in emerald-green tea plantations, contoured, clipped and sculpted like ornamental hedges. One of the biggest tea-plantation regions of South India, Munnar is also one of the most beautiful and popular hill-stations of Kerala. Situated on the banks of three rivers- Madupetti, Nallathanni and Periavaru, Munnar is also blessed with natural view-points apart from the tea-plantations.
After around 5 hours journey reach Munnar by afternoon. Check-in at hotel on arrival. In the evening head out to see Kalaripayattu Show. Kalaripayattu is an ancient Indian martial art, which originated as a style in Kerala.
Overnight stay will be at the hotel in Munnar.

Munnar (sightseeing)

Kannan Devan Tea Museum - After breakfast head out for sightseeing. Visit Pothamedu View Point, which provides a panoramic view of the mountains and tea plantations. Then visit the Munnar Tea Museum. The tea museum preserves the aspects of the genesis and growth of tea plantations in Kerala’s mountain region of the Western Ghats. Later enjoy a tea plantation walk. In the noon go for a Jeep ride tour, enjoy the ride to Mankulam and Anakulam villages surrounded by plantations and dense forest. On this ride, you will get a chance to see high-altitude tea gardens, waterfalls, tribal areas, organic villages and possibly wild elephants.
Reach back at the hotel by evening. Overnight stay will be at the hotel in Munnar.

Munnar - Periyar (Thekkady) [4 hours by road]

Thekkady - After breakfast check-out from the hotel & head towards Periyar. The very sound of the word Thekkady conjures up images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. The Periyar forests of Thekkady is one of the finest wildlife reserves in India. Spread across the entire district are picturesque plantations and hill towns that hold great opportunities for treks and mountain walks.
On the way visit spice plantation. The spice plantations are one of the major attractions of the region. The spice plantations in Kerala are captivating farms to wander in, since different spices are cultivated in different sections of each plantation.
Reach Periyar by late afternoon and check-in at the hotel on arrival. Evening is at your leisure. Dinner & overnight stay will be at the hotel in Periyar (Thekkady).

Periyar (sightseeing)

TRIP OF A LIFETIME - Wow! This was a trip of a lifetime. We were travelling to India for a wedding, and having not visited India before we were a bit apprehensive. We so shouldnt have been. From the moment I made an enquiry to Bout India Tours, to the day we said goodbye, we were absolutely delighted with their professionalism and kindness. They organised all our drivers, accommodation, tours and tour guides in Delhi, Agra and Kerala who were amazing. Bout India Tours staff were always available to chat to us 24/7 if we wanted to change our plans at any time. One one day we had 3 tours organised and we decided just to do one of them as were a bit tired and the beautiful Chahat from Bout India was straight onto the driver to advise him of our change. We loved how they checked in on us and their nothing was too hard approach. All the accomm was lovely especially The Leaf Resort in Kerala - incredible. The people of India are so kind and helpful and Kerala and the Taj Mahal were breathtaking... and we saw elephants in the wild in Kerala! We absolutely loved Kerala it was so beautiful. Big thanks to all the Bout India staff who made this trip - Chahat, Pinki, Geet and Tejinder, and to Vijay, Athul our amazing drivers, and to our tour guides Harry and Anul. India as I had not imagined it - I had imagined that India would feel strange and even a little threatening. I was totally wrong. From beginning to end, I was in the capable hands of professional the Bout India planners, a skilled and knowledgeable driver, and staff at numerous luxury hotels. I just relaxed and totally enjoyed Kerala - a circle tour that gave me a taste of the city, mountains and tea estates, backwaters and beaches, cultural expressions and timeless history. A highlight was my night on a houseboat, watching the full moon rise on my birthday. It didn't take long to feel at home and totally at ease in Kerala, and I was very sad to leave. It was my first adventure in India and it will not be the last.

From the beaches to the mountains to towns and villages, all beautifully organised. - Really enjoyed this which was a mix of town, village, beach, countryside and backwaters. The drivers and guides superb and all the hotels were pretty good too. The organisation was spot on with drivers and guides showing up exactly when you wanted/needed them to. The trip gave us a terrific snapshot of life in Kerala. We also visited Madurai in Tamil Nadu which was extremely interesting in itself - temples, churches, markets and a rickshaw ride through the teeming streets.
