Highlights

Day 01-Arrival in Dakar, Senegal

Dakar - Upon arrival, meet our esteemed guide who will assist you with all formalities and transfer you to your accommodation. Check into the hotel and attend an orientation about the safari with your guide.

Day 02-City tour Dakar - Goree Island

Market Soumbedioune - After breakfast, begin your city tour of Dakar. The first stop will be Independence Place, passing by the presidential palace and the main cathedral. Continue with a drive to the seafront towards Soumbedioune Market and the “Mosque de la Revelation.” The tour of Dakar will highlight the contrasts between upscale residential areas and other popular neighborhoods. You will also visit popular spots like Kermel, Tilene Market, Renaissance Monument, and Africa’s most modern museum, the Museum of African Civilization, a massive four-story complex that fulfilled the dreams of Senegal’s first president, Leopold Sedar Senghor.

Day 03-Pink Lake and Lompoul Desert

Lompoul Desert - After breakfast, depart Dakar for a drive to the Pink Lake, an important center for salt collection. Upon arrival, observe how salt diggers harvest the salt from the lake and how women pile it up. Lunch will be at your own expense. Afterward, drive to the Lompoul Desert. Upon arrival, board a 4WD to the middle of the desert. Enjoy a unique experience in the Lompoul Desert with dinner and a traditional ballet performance featuring Jembe drums, singing, and dancing around the campfire under the stars. There will also be an opportunity for a camel ride. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Day 04-Lompoul – Saint Louis

Dakar Region - Wake up for a 2-hour drive to the historic city of Saint Louis, the former capital of Senegal. Explore the town on a horse-drawn carriage. The city will remind you of New Orleans with its wooden balconies lining the narrow streets.

Day 05-Saint Louis – Touba – Toubacouta

Toubacouta - Depart for the holy city of Touba. Visit one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in all of West Africa, the Grand Mosque. Your guide will explain the history of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, the founder of Mouridism, and the history of Touba. Later, continue to Toubacouta and arrive at Keur Saloum Hotel-Lodge, located in the heart of one of Africa’s most beautiful ecosystems. The area covers about 200,000 hectares and features a unique blend of sky, earth, and sea. It has been the subject of several national and international protective measures, and it deserves our protection as well.

Day 06-Toubacouta – Joal Fadiouth – Saly

Joal Fadiouth - Depart for the twin villages of Joal and Fadiouth. Joal is on the main island and is the birthplace of Senegal’s first president, Leopold Senghor. Fadiouth is on a small island reached by a long wooden bridge and is composed entirely of oyster and clam shells that have accumulated over the centuries. Continue to Saly.

Day 07-Saly – Bandia Safari Game Reserve

Reserve De Bandia - After breakfast, drive to Bandia Safari Reserve, one of the major attractions for tourists staying in Dakar or nearby areas. After the game drive and visit to the sanctuary, there will be an optional Accrobaobab adventure, which includes tree climbing, outdoor recreation, and a courtesy house. It is an unforgettable adventure you won’t want to miss.

Senegal Highlights - Senegal is hidden gem of a country and this tour hit all the best places. Tour guide and driver were phenomenal, Mr. Lamp and Mr. Mamoudou made sure we did whatever we wanted…even went to Djoudj Bird Sanctuary which wasn’t on our tour. All in all a fantastic experience…liked the desert camp, Bandia Reserve, lion experience and Goree Is. The hotels were all good and seemed to be better each night…Royam Resort in Saly was by far the best. My only complaint about this was we were not met at the airport…we were 7 hours late arriving…and had to spend $100 on taxi. Other than not being met at airport, Across Africa Tours and Travel were great and highly recommended.
