Highlights
  • Giza Plateau - Begin your full-day tour at the Giza Pyramids, where you’ll visit the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos. Then, explore the Valley Temple, where priests mummified King Chephren’s body. Here, you’ll also get an up-close view of the Sphinx, the legendary guardian with a lion’s body and the head of King Chephren, standing by the vast funeral complex.
  • Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, now buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, but the site remains unexcavated. The valley temple was linked to a causeway, largely destroyed during the village’s construction.
  • Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex features a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple yielded several statues of Khafre, some found in a well by Mariette in 1860 and others during later excavations by Sieglin (1909–10), Junker, and Reisner.
  • Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple. The mortuary temple also revealed several statues of Menkaure.
  • Great Sphinx - Visit the Sphinx Statue, where our guide will help you capture memorable photos from the best locations.

Lunch is included at a local restaurant, but beverages are not included.

  • Pyramids of Dahshour - The Dahshur pyramids were crucial for the Egyptians’ learning, helping them transition from step-sided to smooth-sided pyramids. This experience ultimately enabled them to build the Great Pyramid of Giza, the last of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. The first Dahshur pyramid, the Bent Pyramid, was built under King Sneferu. It was the first attempt at a smooth-sided pyramid but was unsuccessful due to miscalculations in structural weight and block placement, causing subsidence and incorrect angles.

  • Memphis and Sakkara - Memphis, known in Bohairic Coptic as Manf, was the ancient capital of Inebu-hedj, the first nome of Lower Egypt. Its ruins are near Mit Rahina, 20 km (12 mi) south of Giza in Greater Cairo, Egypt. According to legend, Pharaoh Menes founded the city. It was the capital during the Old Kingdom and remained significant throughout ancient Egyptian history. Memphis occupied a strategic position at the Nile Delta’s mouth and was a hub of activity. Its main port, Peru-nefer, had many workshops, factories, and warehouses distributing food and goods throughout the kingdom. During its golden age, Memphis thrived as a center for commerce, trade, and religion.

  • Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - Saqqara is a vast, ancient burial ground serving as the necropolis for Memphis, the ancient Egyptian capital. It features numerous pyramids, including the world-famous Step Pyramid of Djoser, also known as the Step Tomb due to its rectangular base, and several mastabas (Arabic for ‘bench’). Located about 30 km (19 mi) south of modern Cairo, Saqqara covers an area of around 7 by 1.5 km (4.35 by 0.93 mi).

  • Pyramid of Unas - The Pyramid of Unas, built in the 24th century BC for Pharaoh Unas, the ninth and final king of the Fifth Dynasty, is a smooth-sided pyramid. It is the smallest Old Kingdom pyramid but significant for the discovery of Pyramid Texts, spells for the king’s afterlife inscribed on the walls of its subterranean chambers. This tradition of funerary texts began with Unas’s pyramid and continued in the pyramids of later rulers, through the Old Kingdom and into the Middle Kingdom with the Coffin Texts, forming the basis of the Book of the Dead.

  • Pyramid of Teti - Located in Saqqara, the Pyramid of Teti is an ancient structure built as the final resting place for Pharaoh Teti. It stands as a testament to the Old Kingdom’s architectural prowess and attracts visitors worldwide with its impressive size and historical significance. Explore its chambers and corridors to uncover ancient Egypt’s mysteries and immerse yourself in this iconic landmark’s rich history.

  • Mastaba of Ti - The Mastaba of Ti is one of Saqqara’s most important archaeological sites, discovered by Auguste Mariette. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel. The mastaba contains two serdabs, and its walls depict various scenes of everyday life.
