Visit the Karnak Temple, the largest open-air temple in the world. The Karnak Temple Complex, often referred to simply as Karnak, is a vast collection of ruined temples, chapels, pylons, and other buildings near Luxor, Egypt. Construction began during the reign of Senusret I in the Middle Kingdom (around 2000–1700 BC) and continued into the Ptolemaic period (305–30 BC), with most existing structures dating from the New Kingdom.
Luxor - The Luxor Temple (Arabic: معبد الاقصر) is a significant Ancient Egyptian temple complex on the east bank of the Nile River in what is now Luxor (ancient Thebes), built around 1400 BCE. Known in Egyptian as ipet resyt, “the southern sanctuary,” Luxor hosts several major temples on both banks. Notable mortuary temples include the Temple of Seti I at Gurnah, the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahri, the Temple of Ramesses II (Ramesseum), and the Temple of Ramesses III at Medinet Habu. The primary cult temples on the east bank are Karnak and Luxor. Unlike other Theban temples, Luxor Temple is not dedicated to a cult god or a deified pharaoh but to the rejuvenation of kingship, possibly serving as the coronation site for many pharaohs.
Day Tour: Visit the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, Colossi of Memnon & Hot Air Balloons
Hot Air Balloons Luxor - Start your day early at 4 am with a hot air balloon ride lasting one hour. After the ride, return to the hotel for breakfast before beginning your West Bank tour.
Valley of the Kings - The Valley of the Kings (Arabic: وادي الملوك Wādī al-Mulūk; Coptic: ϫⲏⲙⲉ, romanized: džēme), also known as the Valley of the Gates of the Kings (Arabic: وادي ابواب الملوك Wādī Abwāb al-Mulūk), is a valley in Egypt where, for nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, rock-cut tombs were created for the pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom (the Eighteenth to the Twentieth Dynasties of Ancient Egypt).
Colossi of Memnon - The Colossi of Memnon (Arabic: el-Colossat or es-Salamat) are two enormous stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who ruled during Egypt’s Eighteenth Dynasty. Since 1350 BCE, they have stood in the Theban Necropolis, west of the Nile River from modern Luxor.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, also known as Djeser-Djeseru (Ancient Egyptian: ḏsr ḏsrw “Holy of Holies”), is a mortuary temple in Upper Egypt. Built for the Eighteenth Dynasty pharaoh Hatshepsut, who died in 1458 BC, the temple is located beneath the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari on the Nile’s west bank near the Valley of the Kings. Dedicated to Amun and Hatshepsut, it stands next to the mortuary temple of Mentuhotep II, which inspired its design and later served as a quarry. It is regarded as one of ancient Egypt’s “incomparable monuments.”
