We’re fortunate to have a stunning and lively beach and leisure area just a short distance from the city center. We’ll begin our day with a visit to the village of Fittie, built in the early 1800s as a fishing community, to explore Aberdeen’s maritime heritage and one of its iconic past industries. With a long sandy beach and access to the beach promenade, it’s an ideal spot for watching ships enter the harbor, spotting dolphins and seabirds, and enjoying the fresh North Sea air.

Glen Garioch Distillery - Scotland is synonymous with whisky! Glen Garioch is one of the region’s most historic distilleries. A visit to Glen Garioch Distillery offers the chance to learn about the art of creating the perfect single malt whisky. Glen Garioch is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that malts its own barley, a fascinating process that helps create a unique flavor profile for this Highland single malt. After touring the distillery and seeing how they handcraft the spirit, and inhaling the beautiful fragrances in the warehouses, you can join a guided tasting of three of their whiskies.

East Aquhorthies Stone Circle - One of Aberdeen’s largest stone circles is on our route, providing a perfect opportunity to learn about some of Scotland’s ancient history. East Aquhorthies Stone Circle is a recumbent stone circle—a type found only in northeast Scotland. It features a large stone set on its side, flanked by two upright stones, usually on the south or southwest part of the circle. These structures remain somewhat mysterious, and we don’t know exactly why they were built or why so many are found in northeast Scotland. You’ll discover several theories during this visit.

Castle Fraser Garden & Estate - Aberdeenshire boasts more castles per acre than anywhere else in Scotland! Castle Fraser is one of our favorites. We’ll explore the wonderful grounds with their grand trees and the walled garden, which is a mix of vegetables, herbs, and ornamental plants and flowers. The castle offers a unique experience as you wind your way up and down the spiral staircases, exploring different rooms that tell the stories of the Fraser family, who inhabited the castle for hundreds of years, and later the Smiley family. The Frasers of Castle Fraser include some interesting characters, and you’ll hear stories from various family members as you tour the building.
