Emirates Palace Marina - Renowned as one of the most luxurious hotels, this architectural marvel was crafted by WATG Architects with Reza Rahmanian as the exterior architect. The hotel’s design beautifully blends Islamic architectural elements such as balance, geometry, proportion, rhythm, and hierarchical emphasis with modern design and construction techniques. The central dome showcases intricate geometric patterns, complemented by 114 smaller domes throughout the structure. The building’s color palette draws inspiration from the various shades of sand found in the Arabian Desert. The interior was expertly completed by Depa Interiors, Abu Dhabi, and the hotel opened its doors in February 2005. With construction costs reaching approximately US$3 billion (11.02 billion dirhams), it ranks as the third most expensive hotel ever built, following the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas ($3.9 billion) and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore ($5.5 billion). Visitors will enjoy taking panoramic photos from the outside.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center - Constructed between 1994 and 2007, the Grand Mosque was inaugurated in December 2007. The building complex spans approximately 290 by 420 meters (950 by 1,380 feet), covering over 12 hectares (30 acres), excluding exterior landscaping. The mosque can accommodate over 40,100 worshippers, with the main prayer hall holding over 7,000. Two smaller prayer halls, each with a capacity of 1,500, include a dedicated women’s prayer hall. The hall’s carpet, considered by many to be the world’s largest, was crafted by Iran’s Carpet Company and designed by Iranian artist Ali Khaliqi. Measuring 5,627 m2 (60,570 sq ft), it was created by around 1,200-1,300 carpet knotters. Weighing 35 tons, the carpet is primarily made from wool sourced from New Zealand and Iran, featuring 2,268,000,000 knots and taking approximately two years to complete.
