- Abu Simbel Temple Complex - Abu Simbel is an ancient temple complex located in southern Egypt, near the border with Sudan. It was built during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BCE (around 1264 to 1244 BCE). The temple complex is known for its massive rock-cut temples that were constructed to commemorate Ramses II’s victory at the Battle of Kadesh and to honor the deities worshiped by the pharaoh.
