Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary and Cultural Village - The Mona monkeys residing in the tropical forest surrounding the quaint village of Tafi-Atome have been safeguarded for the last 200 years, as they were believed to be divine messengers. Since 1996, the village has expanded its conservation efforts to protect both the forest and its monkeys, while also offering tours to visitors. These initiatives have successfully preserved the forest, which is home to numerous bird and butterfly species, and increased the monkey population to approximately 200. Although wild, these playful monkeys often approach visitors closely, especially when bananas are offered.

Afadjato (Mount Afadjato) - Mount Afadjato is a breathtaking natural landmark situated in Ghana’s Volta Region. As the highest peak in the country, it rises to about 885 meters (2,904 feet). Part of the Akwapim-Togo mountain range, it spans the border between Ghana and Togo. The mountain boasts a rich diversity of flora and fauna, including over 300 butterfly species and many unique plants. Its lush vegetation and diverse wildlife make it a haven for nature lovers. Afadjato is a favored spot for hikers and adventure enthusiasts. The climb to the summit is challenging yet rewarding, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape, nearby villages, and Lake Volta. It’s definitely a hike worth taking!

Wli Waterfalls - Agumatsa Falls, also known as Wli Waterfalls (pronounced “vlee”), is a renowned and captivating tourist attraction near the village of Wli, close to the Togo border. Most visitors opt for the short, mostly flat walk to the lower falls, which is particularly scenic and dramatic due to the thousands of fruit bats nesting high on the surrounding cliffs. For those with the stamina for a more demanding trek, the equally tall and more secluded upper falls provide a unique experience. At the base of both falls are inviting pools where energetic visitors can cool off. The first hike to the lower falls is a simple 45-minute journey. The second hike takes three hours, requiring sturdy hiking shoes and endurance. The third is a five-hour trek, not for the faint-hearted, so choose the option that best suits your abilities.
