Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary And Cultural Village - The Mona monkeys, residing in the tropical forest surrounding the small village of Tafi-Atome, have been protected for the past 200 years, as they were believed to be messengers to the gods. In 1996, the village began more extensive efforts to preserve its forest and monkeys, in addition to offering tours for tourists. These efforts have safeguarded the forest with its numerous bird and butterfly species and increased the monkey population to around 200. Although they are wild, the playful monkeys often approach visitors closely when offered bananas.

Afadjato (Mount Afadjato) - Mount Afadjato is a stunning natural landmark located in the Volta Region of Ghana. It is the highest peak in the country, standing at about 885 meters (2,904 feet). The mountain is part of the Akwapim-Togo mountain range, which stretches along the border between Ghana and Togo. It is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, including over 300 species of butterflies and many unique plant species. The lush vegetation and diverse wildlife make it a paradise for nature enthusiasts. Afadjato is a popular destination for hikers and adventure seekers. The ascent to the summit is challenging but rewarding, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including nearby villages and Lake Volta. It’s definitely worth the hike!

Wli Waterfalls - Agumatsa Falls, also known as Wli Waterfalls (pronounced “vlee”), is a renowned and striking tourist destination near the village of Wli, close to the Togo border. Most visitors opt for the short, mostly level walk to the lower falls, which is especially picturesque and dramatic due to the thousands of fruit bats nesting high on the surrounding cliffs. For those with the endurance for the strenuous hike, the equally high and considerably more remote upper falls offer a unique experience. At the base of both falls are attractive pools where energetic visitors can cool off. The first is the lower falls, a simple 45-minute hike. The second hike takes three hours, requiring good hiking shoes and endurance. The third is a five-hour hike, not for the faint-hearted, so choose the option that best suits your abilities.
