Well Organised Brilliant Trip to one of the World's Strangest Places - This trip has got to have been one of the most "other worldly" tours I have ever done. The Danakil Depression is one of the lowest places on the surface of the earth and is one of the hottest continuously inhabited places on the planet. Although temperatures regularly exceed 40C the dryness of the atmosphere means it's not as oppressive as it might sound. We were collected from Semera airport then driven to lake Karum a huge salt lake 125 metres below sea level, the stunning colours of Dallol that look like they've been photo shopped (they haven't) and the listening to the roar of the earth in the Ertale volcano, have to be witnessed - photo's don't do them justie. Living in a village in the same style as the local people (which is basic) and at the base camp of the volcano means you are very close to all the things where you want to spend time. Plenty of bottled water was provided as was tasty and nutritious food cooked by our own chef). All of this was organised for me by Danakil Depression Tours. I have to admit to being a bit nervous about the tour but Mickey (the owner of the business) who is an absolute star, put my mind at ease. Nothing was too much trouble for him and the whole trip ran like clockwork. I would have no hesitation in recommending Danakil Depression Tours in general and this tour in particular, to anyone thinking of going to the Danakil Depression.

Professional tour provider away from mass tourism - After a long search, I decided on Danakil Depression Tours. I have done 2 tours to the Danakil and Omo Valley so far. Everything is very thoughtful. Both the guides, as well as the drivers and the cooks did a very good job. Safety is very important. The tours really still take place away from mass tourism, which thank God does not yet exist in Ethiopia. I can absolutely recommend the tour provider. I got in touch via WhatsApp. Mickey as owner, answered all questions perfectly. The included flights were always booked in time and the flight data was transmitted.

Extraordinary Attorney experience - The first time I went As a solo female traveler I felt very safe with my tour agency “Danakil Depression Tours “ . Thanks to the newly cleared road I only walked for thirty minutes up the mountain to be faced with an extraordinary landscape .now that can back again after 4years with the friend However lava wasn’t visible as there was too much smoke . We again woke up at 4am the next morning and walked up to find the wind has changed direction so we were able to see lava. We then went up a hill to see the sun rise and spotted another newly erupted crater. All in all I had a fantastic and extraordinary experience and would recommend it.

amazing colors! - We booked a 3d2n tour of the danakil depression which includes the following highlights - Erta Ale volcano, Dallol sulfur lakes, and some salt lakes along the way. Unfortunately, our domestic flight from Addis to Semera was delayed by 16h which meant that our trip had to be cut short by a day. Mickey, the tour organizer and our point of contact, was quick to respond when we informed him about this flight delay, and he was prompt in adjusting the itinerary to ensure that the tour attractions were covered within the remaining time (2d2n). He also helped us to call the airline (Ethiopian airlines) to confirm this flight delay and the reason (bad weather). We landed in Semera at 5pm and were picked up by a local driver Dani. It was a 5-6h drive from Semera airport to the Erta Ale volcano, with the last 1-1.5h being extremely rocky. We reached Erta Ale at around 11pm and were greeted with a hot cooked meal. We then went on a 1h walk to the volcano. Erta Ale is an active volcano which is actively spewing lava. The colors are most brilliant at sunset, but it was pretty amazing at night too. Living conditions are rudimentary - make-shift mattresses (from the local Afar people) placed on the rocky ground, no toilets. We set off early next morning for a 4h drive from Erta Ale to Dallol, the area with the colorful sulfur lakes. On the third day we visited local hot springs near Semera. The landscapes in the danakil depression are unique with amazing brilliant colors. But be prepared to brave the extreme heat and basic living conditions. Mickey is a reliable and responsive tour organizer. He was available via whatsapp before and during the entire tour. He drove us around Addis before and after the tour, and was an excellent and hospitable guide in Addis.

incredible volcano experience with amazing tour operator - Speechless. Beholding an active crater from such short distance, . The mix of heat, night, abrasive vapors and sound is a unique experience. I had been wanting to do a tour of Erta Ale and the Danakil Depression ever since I first heard about it a year or two ago. I had a business trip to Tanzan in august , and knew that would be a great time to visit Erta Ale, so I started my planning. I contacted several tour companies and decided to go with Mickey from Danakil Depression Tours. He wasn't the cheapest, but I was looking for the quality of the trip over saving a few dollars. I'm a photographer on the side and Isaac had a tour tailor made for photographers, so it was an easy choice. I also went with the 3 day/2 night tour, which I think is best as you get to see everything that the 4 day tours have, but have less driving and only two nights spent in some pretty primitive conditions. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend it. Seeing the bubbling and exploding lava was incredible, and I would have to compare it to seeing the total solar eclipse of the sun that I witnessed earlier this year in Oregon. Mickey handled all the details and made us feel safe the entire time. I would still do it all again. It was definitely roughing it and with the heat and no toilets kind of miserable, but amazing at the same time.

Such a fabulous trip - We recently took the dallol and ertaale trip with danakil depressionTours and Travels, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The trip was beautifully organized, and we had the pleasure of traveling with a group of friendly people. A special mention goes to our tour manager, Miickey, who was simply fantastic. He was not only incredibly helpful but also took care of us like family, ensuring that everyone had a great time. His energy and entertaining personality added a lot of joy to the trip. I had planned this trip as a gift for my parents, and they truly enjoyed every moment. I believe Mickey has a bright future ahead of him, and we’re grateful for his excellent work.

What incredible Lava lake with Super organized tour - The Danakil tours are all roughly the same. 3 days of a very hard road trip, with rudimentary living conditions. It is not only the hottest region on earth, but also the most geographically active. It is a blisteringly hot desert, which has lava flows and salt plains and lakes below the sea level. Can you imagine how this would look like? It is a lifetime experience to see geological formation so strange, and so beautiful. Thanks Mickey
