Additional Information

First, visit the National Museum of Ethiopia, which contains some of the best and most diverse exhibitions. The archeological exhibitions include Lucy (Dinkinesh, ‘beautiful’ in the local vernacular), a 3.5 million-year-old Australopithecus Afarensis hominoid woman. In 1974, Lucy’s fossil revealed that our ancestors walked 2.5 million years earlier than imagined, rewriting our genealogy. The National Museum features several exquisite pre-Axumite artifacts.

Next, visit St. George’s Cathedral. Near the northern end of Churchill Road. The Cathedral, erected in 1896 in the usual octagonal shape to honor Ethiopia’s victory over the Italians in the Battle of Adwa, has Afewerk Tekle’s stained-glass windows from the Africa Hall.

Drive to Entoto to explore Shiromeda market, one of the main Ethiopian traditional clothing markets. Continue driving to the peak to see Mount Entoto’s stunning city view.

Final stop. Stop at Tomoka Coffee! Excellent city coffee. Tour Ends

Wonderful tour of Addis Ababa - I really enjoyed this tour of Addis Ababa, I had a long layover on my way to my next destination and this was perfect to get a quick feel for the city. We visited a view point on top of the city, a church older than the city itself, a museum, a coffee shop and a large open air market. Amanueal was super knowledgeable and a great guide who made my short time in Addis really enjoyable.

Amazing Solo Day Tour with Liyu! - I only had two days in Addis Ababa and both days I took a tour with Liyu and I cannot recommend them enough! This day tour was on my second day (after the food tour the previous afternoon). We stopped at the National Museum of Ethiopia to see Lucy's bones, one of the main Greek Orthodox churches (St George's Church), Mercato, the largest open-air market in Africa, and finally Entoto Park with a gorgeous view over Addis. It was fascinating to learn more about the Ethiopian Orthodox church and way of life. Both our guide and driver were FANTASTIC! Cannot recommend enough! :)
