Highlights
  • Addis Ababa Museum - The National Museum of Ethiopia (NME), also referred to as the Ethiopian National Museum, is a national museum in Ethiopia. It is located in the capital, Addis Ababa,

The museum houses Ethiopia’s artistic treasures. It contains many precious local archaeological finds such as the fossilized remains of early hominids, the most famous of which is “Lucy,” the partial skeleton of a specimen of Australopithecus afarensis. Recently added to the basement gallery is a display on Selam, found between 2000 and 2004. This archaic fossil is estimated to date to 3.3 million years ago.

The NME at present has four main exhibition sections. The basement is dedicated to archaeological and paleoanthropological sections. This area show the previously mentioned hominids. The first floor contains objects from ancient and medieval periods, as well as regalia and memorabilia from former rulers, who include Emperor Haile Selassie. The second floor shows art work in a chronological order, from traditional to contemporary works. Afewerk Tekle’s massive African Heritage is one of the most notable pieces. Another painting depicts the meeting of Solomon and Sheba.[1] The second floor contains a collection of secular arts and crafts, including traditional weapons, jewellery, utensils, clothing and musical instruments.[1] Finally, the third floor has an ethnographic display. Here, the museum tries to give an overview of the cultural richness and variety of the peoples of Ethiopia.

A good experience for a first timer - I enjoyed sightseeing with Aman Tour especially going to the old churches. I don’t think I could have done it alone and without them. It was my first time in Ethiopia and I happened to have an 18-hour layover so after I got to my transit hotel, had a rest, I started going around Addis Ababa with Aman Tour. I also enjoyed the traditional Ethiopian food.

Friendly Guide, Limited Sights: Addis Ababa City Tour Review - recently took a guided city tour of Addis Ababa, which included convenient airport and hotel pickups. The highlight of the tour was undeniably our knowledgeable and friendly guide(Mr. Joseph), who made the experience enjoyable with insightful commentary and engaging conversation. However, when it comes to Addis Ababa itself, the sights were somewhat underwhelming. Beyond a few notable landmarks and cultural spots, the city seemed to lack the captivating allure found in other travel destinations. As a traveler, I couldn't help but feel that visiting was more about checking another country off my list than being truly captivated by its offerings. Nevertheless, for anyone interested in Ethiopian culture and history, the city does offer some intriguing glimpses, particularly in its museums and markets. The guide's expertise was instrumental in bringing these facets to life, adding depth to what might otherwise have been a fleeting visit. In conclusion, while the tour guide's excellence shone through, Addis Ababa itself might appeal more to those specifically interested in Ethiopian culture rather than general sightseers looking for a multitude of attractions.

Great experience with a local guide! - I went as a solo traveller and had a great tour! I got to see everything I wanted to see in Addis Ababa with a great team of tour guide and driver, Abe and George, who made sure I was getting the best experience. Also, Abe is very knowledgeable in history and culture - it was great to have someone explain everything and I learnt so much about Ethiopia. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Addis Ababa, whether group or solo.

Tour Addis Ababa with Abe the Best Tour Guide! - What a great Addis Ababa city tour with Abe as my guide! I got picked up from the airport and we went for traditional coffee which was amazing after a long flight. We then proceeded to travel in comfort throughout Addis Ababa visiting ALL the sites and museums. Abe knew a lot about everything and described it all with great ease and intelligence. He was an awesome guide and very professional answering all my questions and anticipating my needs. I recommend Abe and this tour 100%! Thanks for a wonderful intro to Ethiopia!

Very knowledgeable and professional tour guide - Yihun and George were wonderful. Yihun did the guiding and was so friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. As a woman traveling solo, I was a little concerned to be taking the tour but he made me feel comfortable almost immediately by listing out where we were going and by just being courteous. I learned a lot about Ethiopia during my one day stop here thanks to them. I highly recommend.

Honestly I’m feel Disappointed - The tour time supposed to be 7-8 hours but in reality was just 4 hours 09:30-13:00. And those attractions should to be more but we just went for a couple places, I thought we will go to take a walk at Mercato market but we just drive passed only. So I’m feel disappointed to the tour program
