Adadi Mariam is a subterranean rock-hewn church similar to those of Lalibela. This church is unique as it is the southern-most church of its type, and stands alone
- no other rock-hewn churches are in the area. It has been surmised that King Lalibela ordered the construction of Adida Mariam for his visit to southern Ethiopia. The site dates to the 13th century, but is still an active site of worship.
- Melka Kunture - At Melka Kunture Archaeological site we have a chance to see (nearly 2 million-year-old) discovered fossils of the prehistoric age. The Stone tools in the area dating 1. 5 million years old.

A one-day excursion to Melka Kuntre and Bachilt Archaeological Site, alongside Adadi Mariam Church and the Tiya Stelae Field is available. Departure from Addis Ababa is scheduled for 8.00 am, with an estimated return time of 4.30 pm.
Initially, we journey to the Melka Kuntre and Bachilt Archaeological Site, situated approximately 50km outside of Addis Ababa.
Next, we proceed to the Adadi Mariam Church, situated roughly 7km adjacent to Melka Kuntre. Adadi Mariam boasts a cavernous, rock-hewn church, akin to those found in Lalibela.
Post the church visit, a quick trip to the Tiya Stelae Field is arranged. This historical archaeological site boasts 36 monuments, of which 32 are carved stelae.
The day’s itinerary integrates lunch in the town of Tiya.
