Lake Chamo – Konso Village – Turmi
Chamo Lake - After an early breakfast, drive to Lake Chamo for a boat trip to the “crocodile market,” where you can spot hippos, Africa’s largest crocodiles, and various bird species. Proceed to Konso for lunch before exploring one of the nine UNESCO-listed villages.
The Konso people are renowned for their unique “generation poles,” which signify the passage of time and generations in the village. Continue your journey to Turmi, which takes about four hours. Overnight at Paradise Lodge, Turmi.
Drive to Kara Village
Turmi - After breakfast, set off for Kara Village, home to approximately 3,000 people along the eastern banks of the Omo River. The Kara are recognized for their stunning villages and the body painting traditions of their children. After visiting the village, return to Turmi for lunch.
In the afternoon, if circumstances allow, witness a traditional bull-jumping ceremony—a rite of passage for young men. Alternatively, observe a special event where female family members express their loyalty to the groom’s family through a ceremonial whipping. If there is no bull-jumping ceremony, explore a Hamer village instead. Overnight at Paradise Lodge, Turmi.
