6-Day Tour of Omo Valley Tribes

Addis Ababa - Upon arrival, you will be greeted and taken to your hotel. After refreshing, embark on a sightseeing tour of Addis, starting with a drive up Mount Entoto for a stunning panoramic view of the city. Descend and visit the National Museum to see the ancient hominid fossils of ‘Lucy.’ Continue to the Holy Trinity Cathedral, built during WWII. Conclude the day with a visit to Merkato, the largest market in East Africa.

Addis Ababa – Tiya-Arba Minch

Tiya World Heritage Site - After an early breakfast, head south to explore Tiya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring unique engraved standing stelae. Continue to Welayta for a lunch break, then proceed to Arba Minch for an overnight stay. Overnight in Arba Minch.

Arba Minch- Chencha Dorze Villages

Dorze Village - After breakfast, enjoy a boat trip on Lake Chamo to visit the crocodile market, where crocodiles bask in the sun. Observe hippos and various bird species before heading to the Dorze village in the Gughe Mountains. Here, admire the traditional Dorze beehive-shaped huts, recognized by UNESCO for their visual appeal. Return to Arba Minch for lunch, then drive to Konso.

Konso – Turmi

Konso Cultural Centre - After breakfast, explore the Konso village, a UNESCO site known for its terracing and exceptional coffee. Visit the Bana village, where men adorn their hair with colorful clay caps and feathers. Continue to Turmi, home to the Hamer people.

Turmi- Omorate

Omorate - (75kms, 2-hour drive) After breakfast, take an excursion to Omorate to meet the Dassanech people, known as the ‘people of the Delta,’ residing on the northern shore of Lake Turkana. Return to Turmi for lunch, then drive to Jinka.

Drive Jinka – Mago – Jinka – Addis Ababa

Mago National Park - Embark on a day trip to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi village, home to one of Ethiopia’s exotic ethnic groups. The Mursi live in low huts made of straw leaves, and the women are known for wearing terra cotta on their stretched lower lips and ear lobes. Return to Jinka for lunch, then transfer to Jinka Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa.

Addis Ababa - Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, you will be picked up from Bole Airport and transferred to your hotel.

Omo valley divers culture, this itinerary does its best, taking you fly down to Arba Minch to help you cut out one full day drive to get in there and going down to the Omo Valley peoples with the 4 WD car, passing through the magnificent Konso tribes and the colorful Kay Afer market, and proceed further down to the Mago national Park to see the Mursi tribes and on the same day arrive to Turmi for the spectacular cultural insights of the Hamer tribes.
After your immediate excursion in the early morning to the Karo tribes you drive came back to Arba Minch to get the next day flight to setoff to Addis.
